Been using hydrid string pattern for yrs with synthetic gut as cross and this string as mains. All/most forehand spin is transferred to synthetic gut, so the feel is reliable. If you have not played with a hybrid pattern, it will take some practice before you get comfortable. During last 5yrs with this hybrid the Luxilon never snapped, but tension can be lost over time.

I am a 5.0 player competitive player. The shaped version of this popular string offers more predictable bite and spin on the ball than the regular or rough. In fact, I had previously used rough in my hybrid setup but did not notice a big difference in play from the regular variety. I then played with the shaped strings RPM blast, Volkl Cyclone, and even Ytex quadrotwist. The Cyclone got great bite and reliable spin, but it’s feel was not great on touch shots, and over time my elbow bothered me. RPM blast trampolined too much for me and was too buzzy in frames. Ytex QT when freshly strung provides insane and unpredictable spin which can confuse opponents and induce errors. It also has a soft feel. It loses tension too quickly. Ok…that brings me the spin version of this string. It provides me with the more predictable bite and spin closer to Cyclone and softer feel close too the regular Luxilon and Ytex, but without the unwieldy feel of the latter. So, in conclusion the twain meets with the spin version for me. It is more likely to pop string in hybrid setup for obvious reason that the edges can burrow into the other string.
