A very clever systems that puts a machinist grade repair in reach of the common man. Self aligning tools make the process simple. The repair leaves you with a stought steel lining of the spark plug hole that was expanded to grip and seal on the base metal. A modest amount of care and the new hole is good for the remaining life of the engine.

A must tool to properly install threaded inserts for spark plugs. A wonderful system that is easily to use and does a machine shop job without the machine shop.

Although a tad bit more expensive, this kit works very very well, was easy to use, did what it was advertized to do, didnt break when used, can be used many many more times. a truely professional item. learning curve almost non existant.

I purchased the time-sert 12mmx1.25 to repair the spark plug thread for a motorcycle. Yes, it is expensive, but a great solution to my problem. The quality is top notch and a great way to fix damaged threads. The only problem I had was the driver tool was too long and interfered with the bike frame. I ended up making a shorter tool out of some aluminum stock for the seat cutter.

I have used Helicoil in the past quite a bit. They are fairly simple to use, but lack the strength in some applications. Time-Sert remedies this problem by using a solid steel insert, not a coil of thin metal. They offer many sizes, but this spark plug kit is specific to spark plug applications. They are not cheap, but neither is replacing a cylinder head. After using this very simple kit, I will never use helicoils again.

Time-sert is really the best thread repair available. I tried the heli-coil, but the location of the spark plug on the Honda 400EX is difficult to access and I ended up pulling it out. Time-sert is expensive, especially if you may only use it once.
