wood slightly warped, fixible but requires woodwork. hinges are wonky, but its a good starting point if you fix the warp, change the hinges and add more and stronger magnets.

Received the item with one screw (of the hinges) missing. I don’t know where can I get that similar screw. A bit disappointed.

i use this set up for light weight small oil paintings. since it is lighter than my ugo wave i can also use a lighter tripod also. cuts down on hauling alot of weight. small paintings have their own challenges but allows me to finish my painting onsite with hour or two. also if i tape 2 paintings inside of the surface and close it the paintings are transportable wet in oil.

I ordered this for my birthday. It is the most wonderful purchase! Arrived on time, super easy to attach to my tripod, which it comes with the universal attachment too. The magnets are strong and hold my paints and water containers without any slippage. It's light weight, looks wonderful, and is so worth every penny. You will not regret this purchase! It's just like the James gurney style, but cheaper :)

The magnets are very weak and the hardware is very tight making it a bit sticky to open and close. But I am really disappointed with the weakness of the magnets. My small tin palette slides right off.

Well, if you didn’t know who Jim gurney was go ahead and look them up he’s famous for creating an easel and tripod that is magnetic so you can put a tin water cup and a tin watercolor set and paint virtually anywhere. And it was missing in the market until this company made this fantastic item which was, a dream! Because I didn’t have to make it myself. And it has all the great features. The hinges work great. They’re sturdy they give you the folded up position and it lays flat like you seen the photos. It went on the tripod as a solid, well-made, well engineered Bargain compared to the amount of money you would take you to build this yourself. I strongly recommend it.

I have wanted a James Gurney style easel for at least five years, but wasn’t skilled to build one. When I saw this I was thrilled and it didn’t disappoint. The quality was actually even better than I expected.

This sketch board is very sturdy. The wood is nice quality, it’s very stable while on my tripod. I can use it for watercolors or sketching on location. The magnets are very strong and hold the watercolor tin in place with no wiggle. I’m very happy with this purchase, its portability is key for me, also that it’s under 2 pounds. It’s a great value for the money. It comes with a slide plate for a tripod that has that interlock mechanism. I have a Mactrem tripod that uses a quick release plate so I didn’t need the plate it came with which would’ve been perfect if I had that type of tripod.
