The more I tune this thing to different sound types, the more it impresses me. Definitely worth the $150 price tag. The bottom hoop was slightly uneven, but nothing too bad like some of the reviews I read. All in all, worth the price.

You would have to change the head, I bet an Evans hydrolic would be perfect to suit the low tones. But after ya get a thicker batter side head it will sound great. Also goes well the the big fat snare drum ring. Amazing price, must have!! Huge maple deep snare, can't go wrong.

La verdad pensé que sería una construcción muy muy barata pero no fue así la verdad estoy satisfecho, aunque como nunca había tocado una tarola más grande que 5,5 la afinación me costó un poco para que sonara super gordo, pero al final se logró lo único que puse fue mi parche viejo a la tarola y agarró mejor sonido, la verdad el vaso si influye si quieres sonar un poco más gordo

Upon receiving the snare, I took some time to examine it. I noticed that the top rim came warped. The bottom rim is ok. The throw off switch is a bit cheap. Feels like I'm gonna break it off. The actual snare strap needs replacing immediately. I also replaced the stock heads with Evan's drum heads. Overall, the snare sounds good and looks good for the price. I would recommend it to other players, but just make sure to upgrade the heads and snare strap.

Bearing edge for the reso head has a real nice warp in it. Cheap drum, literally.

I wanted a deep wood snare to fill out the collection and found this deal. 10 lug thin rims 6 ply (2 maple sandwiches betw birch) and nice looking. The 14x8 has nice low end wood often lacks and can be used as a tom when desired. Fine.I reskinned the top with SD Dry and put a 40 wire strainer underneath lol. A moongel gets the tone tight and fat (a leather wallet would be even more 70’s) and it’s already played in quite well on the first day. I don’t think it needs new hoops and the throw is serviceable. If you have the room to store it it’s a great choice.

Stock out of the box you can make this thing crack. Of course there are more expensive, more quality snares, but this is a great snare to add to an arsenal of snares if you are looking for different sounds. From someone who lives by, owns, plays DW drums, give this guy a shot. Its as deep as a tom!! Its tonal range is on the lower end and if you crank the head the snare does get a little overtone ring (but manageable with a little drum tacks). Change the heads on top and bottom and you could make this drum sound even tighter!

This is a very good drum for the money....That said ,if you are use to good quality you will be dissapointed.As always you get what you pay for.I received the drum super fast and it was packaged perfectly.Upon opening it was beautiful and sounged good after a basic tune....I switched out heads and got the classic rock sound....the problem.....next day took it on a 4 hour gig ,classic rock and after the third song the tuning wase gone and the three tuning lugs under the left side were loose.due to rim shots....this went on every three to four songs for the rest of the gig...I failed to bring my old snare drum and was forced to deal with the pain! On the Monday after the gig I put the original head back on and traded the drum at a local pawn shop....No harm done but lesson learned....a good drum for a beginner from a great company and it looks cool too.

For the last 4 years, I've wanted a ballad snare that could also double as my second tom (e.i. Robert "Sput" Searight and Larnell Lewis). Problem.... Most 8 x 14s are extremely expensive. Needless to say, I found this one after a lot of scroll resourcing. Price was almost unbelievable. Being that the weight of it is very light, I knew I had to try some new heads. I put the Evans Hydraulic Blue head on the top (just a little past finger tight) and Reso 7s on the buttom. The result... "Big BEEFY is born!!! The exact sound I was looking for!! Well, I will be changing the snares on the buttom as well but still...The only potential problem I see is the snare throw is a little too flimsy for my taste. Nothing that can't be change soon as well though. All in all, I'm completely satisfied!!
