I looked at the pictures and thought I was getting a 23mm socket, which is a size that was skipped in the Pittsburgh set I have. I didn’t notice that the description said it was 21mm until after I ordered it. Turns out that it is 21mm, which is OK because the one I have is showing a lot of wear from the abuse my Milwaukee impact has been dishing out. The Maxpower socket looks like a well-built socket and fits bolt heads well. Compared the Pittsburgh socket it has a slightly thicker wall, and is necked down more at the drive end. The finish looks fine similar to most impact sockets. I’m giving it 3 stars because the pictures show the wrong size, not because of quality or value of the actual socket.Update: I also picked up the 23 and 24mm sockets, these arrived as pictured (they were originally in separate listings, but it looks like they have been merged into the same listing now with several size choices). I used the 21mm they other day to rotate tires on a Ford van, and it performed flawlessly. The markings on the 24mm are a bit faint, if it was a frequently-used size I'd be concerned that the size marking might wear off.

This socket looks well made. I cannot attest to it's durability because I plan on using it for my oil changes and will be used in a low torque environment. The sizing is accurate.

Sockets made to withstand use with an impact wrench must be especially strong to deal with the sharp, hammer-like blows of the impact driver, and this socket is clearly designed for such use. It's made of heat-treated Chrome Molybdenum (Cr-Mo) steel, and--like most impact sockets--it has a corrosion-resistant black phosphate finish. Its size is marked with large, easily-readable etched numbers.Since this socket is intended to withstand use in very high-torque situations, it uses a six-point design, rather than the 12-point style common with standard sockets. That allows it to grip the sides of hex-shaped fastener heads instead of the corners, resulting in a stronger grip on the nut or bolt, and greatly reduces the chances of rounding off stuck fasteners. Additionally, as can be seen in the product pictures, the corners of both the socket's hex opening and the square drive opening have a slight radius, which substantially reduces the chances of splitting. This socket is accurately sized, providing a good non-sloppy fit on both the 23mm socket end and the 1/2" drive end. Since this is a "shallow," or standard-length socket (as opposed to a "deep" socket, it may be easier to use in places where there is restricted vertical clearance. Of course, impact sockets can also be used in ordinary, non-impact operations--but since the socket walls are thicker to withstand the impact forces, they may not fit in tight places. Have you ever wondered what the holes near the base of the socket are for? They're for the detent pin or ball (on the end of the impact driver) to engage, to keep the socket attached to the driver under high-vibration conditions.

This socket appears to be well made. The walls are pretty thick and it fits well on my impact wrench. It really feels comparable to other impact sockets I own and I wouldn't hesitate to use it for any job.

Not pretty. Works as designed. A good addition to my toolbox. Easy to install and remove on wrench.
