The thing that I like about the item is that it fits inside the conga bags !

The Meinl conga plate helps project the sound from under a conga that is not tilted...or is being played on a rug. It works. Two problems: the bottom of the plate is smooth, so it might "walk" and the diameter of the plate is too large to fit in some conga bags with a drum...unless you carrying it in the quinto bag.

I have a set of LP classics- tumba, conga and quinto but on my medium pile nylon rug they sound very muffled with almost no bass tone. I tried a wooden disk from another drum company but it added nothing. So I decided to take a chance on the Meinl conga sound plates and what a major difference. I can hear bass tones for the first time and the volume is at least doubled. Well worth the money in my opinion I recommend these to anyone who uses a carpeted practice space.
