One of the best upgrades for any 2 valve 4.6 liter V8 Ford engine. Every time I replaced the timing chains on my 2 valve 4.6 liter Ford V8 engines, this is the go to oil pump I use. It’s easy to get to, easy to install, and solid insurance for engine longevity.

Easy to install is a 4 star because it requires a fair amount of engine disassembly to install due to the OEM engine design not a factor in the design of this replacement part.

So this doesn't come with a pick-up tube; make sure you order or find one before you tear your engine apart and can't change whats needed otherwise it seems a lot better than the Ford stock parts.

I'm a mechanic. I ordered this to resolve chain slap noise issue common to this vehicle. After watching the Melling video online about chain noise on Ford engines, I was convinced to give this a try. Arrived on time, as described. Installed and primed by pouring oil into the inlet hole, and turning the pump by hand. Then installed onto the engine and torqued to spec. Removed both timing chain tensioners and disassembled, then cleaned the gunk and goo out, then reassembled and reinstalled back onto the car. (This was an important step in resolving the chain slap issue because the oil orifices in these components are very small and get clogged easily.) Upon engine startup, absolutely no chain noise. Oil pressure indicator on the dash is at mid-level. Great product. I would highly recommend this Melling oil pump or any other Melling pump, and would definately buy again!
