This is my third black "utility" kilt. Still have the others, but the first is wearing down. That one is made out of a light fabric that wrinkles and one of the buckles broke as well as two of the belt loops. It was an "other" brand, not Tartanista.The second kilt I bought is an AllSafe acrylic wool in black size 36. It's MUCH better than the light cloth one. It's starting to pill a little from wear (never have washed it), but the main reason for buying another kilt is size. My girth has reduced to where the size 36 is falling down to my hips instead of riding high on the waist.This 34 inch black Tartanista kilt is a really good weight acrylic wool material. It drapes nicely like the AllSafe with a good wide waist band and three buckles, one to the left and two to the right. The straps are similar to the AllSafe, but one of the straps on the right is very stiff.Once buckled on, the kilt feels good. It fits around the "gut bucket" as it should and doesn't slip or slip around. With blouse tucked in, no belt needed just optional for fancy dress.It seems like the liner that goes across the back inside the kilt is sewn in all around instead of only at the top. The liner in the AllSafe kilt is similar but only sewn along the top.I've been shopping sporrans to have a "purse" for cellphone but being vegan I had to pass on most of the ones I saw because they're leather or genuine fur. I expected PU (polyurethane) to be much easier to find, but it wasn't. I did find one finally through a listing for costumes as part of a Scottish costume. "Scottish pouch" it was called and it has fake fur on front with a tassel, but looks well enough made. I look forward to dressing it up with brooch pins.Overall this kilt was a very good purchase and I recommend it over those light cloth variety that crease and wrinkle. My AllSafe that's made of this acrylic wool material has no need for an iron. The only concern are the threads that keep the pleats bound for shipping. When the thread is pulled out, it releases the pleats so they swing normally. It's a bit tricky taking the threads out without pulling the fabric, so be careful. I used nail clippers but wasn't quite careful enough.These kilts look great dressed up or dressed down. In cool weather I tuck a nice blouse in and wear a vest over. In warmer weather, a sleeveless top works. For shoes, I wear "Maryjanes" (flats with a buckle strap) or lace up black high tops that come to my knees.Tartanista Kilt Plain Black 5 Yard 10 oz size 34

quality was much better than expected. I used their sizing guide and measured at the navel. was several inches too big. I bought another 4 inches less than the size guide indicated and the fit was good. The measurements run true, the 42 was 42 and the 38 was 38...but somehow when you put it on it doesn't sit where they tell you to measure.

I bought the Black Watch kilt for my boyfriend’s birthday. He loves it and proudly wore it when friends came to dinner. It’s made of acrylic wool, not heavy but not flimsy either; it’s holding the pleats well. He’s 6’ tall and the 24” length hits right at his knees. Be sure to measure the size at the bellybutton for a perfect fit. He looks pretty sharp wearing it.

Well for the price its not bad.Its a few notches above costume quality however the order was delayed at the last minute and it was sent in a clear bag that looks like it traveled the world.The material is on the lighter side and looks like some stitching is unraveling a bit.Color looks great, and it fits perfectly!

This is obviously not a "quality" kilt, but it is more comfortable and less itchy than "proper" kilts. I'm not sure how hardwearing it will be, but time will tell. I'm very happy with it anyway and can't believe they can make a kilt of this quality for such a low price. It fits perfectly too. Well done Tartanista!

Pedí este kilt porque quería uno que fuera resultón y que se viera bien sin ser caro, y la verdad es que he quedado muy contento con el producto. Esta bien fabricado, la talla me ha quedado perfecta y tiene buena calidad precio.

I purchased this as my first kilt. I wanted to learn how to wear it before I purchase a more expensive one. I didn't expect it to be so nice at this price and I was shocked to receive it in only two days (it came from UK and I live in US)I ordered it a size bigger because I have a small waist and rounder hips (I am a woman ) but the kilt was true to size and fit beautifully over my shapes. I will order next one exactly my size or one size down. For the moment, I just punched an extra hole in the belts and it sits relaxed on my hips. By the time I add the belt and sporran, it looks really nice.My kilt came with three rows of tacks to keep the pleats in place and another row of tacks to keep the lining in place, on the inside of the kilt, and I would suggest not to remove them until you iron or have your kilt ironed. I ironed mine on medium heat, with a cotton cloth between the iron and the kilt, but you can take it to the cleaners to do it.Overall, this is an excellent quality and workmanship for the price

Excellent delivery. I expected the tartan in more than a week and it came in 2 days. The sizing was perfect, though I did order a size smaller just in case I lose a few pounds as needed. The workmanship is great for the price and I will order from them again. The shipping cost was almost as much as the kilt itself which is a small bummer, but the quality is worth it considering the price for the quilt. I did remove the 2 basting stitches that hold the pleats, but left the top one intact which improved the look. Also, someone commented the pleats are worn in front....they are not. The pleats are worn in the back. I love the kilt and look forward to getting another soon in a much brighter tartan. I also ordered socks and a sporran along with the matching kilt sock tartan tags, They look great and complete the attire. Very nice product for the money. And do not suck in too tight when ordering the size......measure just on or below the belly button to get the right size and measure a couple times to get the right measurement.
