When deciding on the size and clicking the ‘size guide’ all it showed was that the socks run true to size, but since this is a man and women’s sock I got the size small. When I received the socks it has a very helpful size guide on the package, which I wish the sellers put as one of their photos or in the description. However, even at a size 8.5 women’s or size 40 eu, these socks still fit me, which was why I indicated they run a little large and took off one star (as the quality and warmth of these socks are 5 stars!).I wore these socks for a bike ride in 40-50 degree weather and these kept my toes perfectly warm. I love that the have thicker heal (it’s not too thick) and shin area. They are very comfortable and the seams can not be felt. Highly recommend! And a bonus that they are made in New Hampshire.

The Minus33 merino wool socks were ordered for use in colder weather months when hiking. These socks are the type of winter-wear socks I like to use when hiking. I've ordered orhter versions of Minus33 socks previously, and I really like the way they feel. The product description indicates they are for use when snowboarding. However, I do not snowboard. The socks are a slightly thinner wool sock, but have good padding in the shin, calf, and ankle, heal, and toe. The padding on the legs is obviously to protect the legs from the boots that are being warn. Yes, they are a thinner sock than a thick ski sock or hiking sock. But, not all days are extremely cold. Thus, for this reason, I like these socks. The socks are also moisture wicking, and even though it was a somewhat warm day, I did not experience any excessive heat while wearing the socks.I wear a perfect 13 D (Medium), and these socks fit me like they should. Also, the socks are over-the-calf, and on me (5'10"), the socks came to the bottom of the kneecap. Although the socks are primarily wool, they do have a composition of nylon, stretch nylon, and spandex. These other fabrics help keep the sock close to the leg, and there is no indication that the socks will slide downward. The other factor that I like is that these socks are machine washable. Many times, merino wools socks cannot be washed in a washing machine.BOTTOM LINE: These USA made socks are a wonderful addition to my wardrobe for wear in the cooler and cold months for hiking and working in the woods. I do not snowboard, but regardless they are certainly warm enough for that purpose. The price is on the upper end of what I want to pay for socks, but these are so comfortable and warm, I would definitely order them again.

I have 10 1/2 EEEE feet that get cold quickly, but they overheat easily. And they get very sweaty and super stinky. The many sport, moisture wicking synthetic material socks I've tried have failed to keep my feet warm, dry, and odor-free. I discovered a few years ago that wool is the way to go, and I have tried several brands and blends, cheap and expensive, and always with over 50% wool content. They've been inconvenient as hand-wash only, disintegrate after only a few uses, sag, too tight, too thick, too itchy, and/or insufficient cushioning. This pair, made in USA, is the the second best I've tried. It comes just behind another version by Minus33, the Mountain Heritage Elite all season lightweight snowboard socks, which have more cushioning around the foot. Just like those, these fit perfectly with the toes and heels in the right places. They're nice and smooth with a dense weave, but they're less cushy and thus less compressibility in the cushioned areas. And not itchy!I did the same acid test by wearing them for 24 hours straight. First, I slept with them on. They aren't as warm, but more importantly they never got too cold, sweaty or clammy. PASS!The second test was to wear my wool lined leather slippers for 4 hours in the morning. Just wearing them bare footed ends up with a hot, sweaty, stinky mess after only half an hour. My feet never got too hot, but I did notice a slight dampness. I'm thinking the less cushioning in the feet reduces the ability to wick and dissipate heat and sweat. But it is still a PASS!The third test was to wear my leather boots for 4 hours, which are heavy and not breathable. These have cushioning in the calves, but I never felt pinching or squeezing, even thought these boots are still being broken in. The area around the feet felt perfectly fine. At the end of the 4 hours, there was definitely more moisture and there was more odor, but still survivable - certainly better than all my other wool socks. I'll give it a PASS!The next few hours was just walking around the house, a blend of hardwood and area rugs. No worries about slipping. Since the cushioning was less on the feet, it wasn't as comfortable but still perfectly fine. My feet never got too cold or hot; the ambient temperature is 68 degrees and I never felt the need to put on my slippers. PASS!The final test was to wear those slippers again for 4 hours to see if their performance degraded over time. Yeah, though my feet didn't get too hot, they definitely got that ripe odor. Still breathable, but not exactly pleasant. I will give it a middling PASS!Pricing is a factor in my reviews, and compared to similarly constructed socks from other big and small name brands this price point is totally fair. And frankly, these Minus33 socks perform so much better than the other big name and similarly priced socks, I think these are a better deal.Bottom line, I highly recommend these socks. In fact, I recommend any Minus33 socks. Just have to pick the version that fits your needs the best. I do prefer the fully cushioned versions as the extra padding helps with wicking and dissipating heat and sweat and are more odorless. But these are thinner and lighter so it's more feasible to wear these in warmer temperatures. Certainly not in the summer, but anything under 72 degrees would be fine.I cannot speak to its long term durability or how it performs after multiple washings - it does claim machine washable. If anything negative happens, then I will update this review. But until then, this gets a solid 5 star review.

I like these socks from Minus33 quite a lot. They are very warm but my feet never sweat thanks to the high wool content. I wore the socks for 18 hours straight, sleeping and then to work, no sweating and no odor. The high height of the socks also keeps my legs warm. The socks stay in place, I only needed to tug them up once or twice in 18 hours.I like the padded shin, calf, and ankle zones. The padding is slight but noticeable when wearing winter or work boots.Minus33 socks usually run true to the size chart, but I found this pair ran a little small. I wear a men’s size 7, and I get size medium (men’s 6-8.5, women’s 7-9.5) in their socks. With this pair, the heel doesn’t meet my heel without pulling too much at the toes. I still wear them, but I leave the toe box looser and so the heel is closer to the arch of my foot than at my heel.
