The Mipukbay Aquarium Breeding Box feels cheap and flimsy, with weak suction cups that don’t hold well. The water flow slits are too large, letting fry escape, and it’s bulkier than expected in my 20-gallon tank. It’s easy to clean and transparent, but the poor quality and design flaws make it a letdown. Spend your money on a better breeder box.

I needed a Breeding Box mainly to separate some guppy fry and give them a safe space away from the adults. After using it for a while, here’s my take:First off, the design is okay — nothing super fancy, but it gets the job done. The clear acrylic is nice because I can easily keep an eye on the fry and see how they’re doing. It’s got enough ventilation for water flow, so the water quality stays decent, especially if you place it near the filter output. The size is actually pretty good, especially for a medium. I’ve been able to keep a decent number of fry in there without it feeling too cramped. That said… I probably should have just gone with the Large. Once the fry start growing a bit, the Medium can start to feel a little tight, especially if you’ve got a big batch. Now, for some quick pros and cons:✅ Green check marks for the wins:✅ Easy to set up — suction cups work well and it attaches securely✅ Clear acrylic makes it easy to monitor the fish✅ Good water flow with the slotted design✅ Versatile — works for shrimp, fry, even an aggressive betta needing time-out❌ Red Xs for the not-so-great bits:❌ Medium feels small if you’ve got more than a few fry — Large would’ve been a better choice❌ The lid doesn’t snap tight — it just kind of rests there, so be careful if you’ve got jumpers❌ Not the most durable plastic — feels like it could crack if you’re not gentleAll in all, it’s a solid little breeder box. If you’re just starting out or need a quick setup for fry or shrimp, this one does the job. But if you’ve got a bigger tank or expect a lot of babies, go ahead and size up — you’ll thank yourself later.

This feels a lot sturdier than the previous breeder box I got. There is a slight crack on the bottom, but it doesn't interfere with the use. I like the lid to make sure the fish can't jump out, the finger holes make it easy to remove. The separation piece after cleaning or just putting it will want to float up and needs to be pushed down several times until it stays put. I don't have any issues with the suction cups and staying stuck to the side of the tank. I am newer to fish, I do have a pregnant fish in there, but it seems like this may not be a proper box to contain the fry. The sizing seems decent for a small size box.

If it doesn't work, it'll likely be on me and the fish, not the box. It has a bit of a fragile feel to it, in that a drop might break it, depending on what it may hit. For just 15$, it is a no brainer if one needs to protect the fry.

I picked this up to use as a temporary holding area for my betta, Steve, and it’s exactly what I needed. Sometimes I have to do a full deep clean or scrape algae off everything, and rather than stress him out while I’m elbow-deep in the tank, I pop him into this little breeder box for a safe timeout.I actually set the box up in one of my other tanks while I’m working on his, so he still has clean, cycled water and a stable environment. He just floats there in his temporary vacation home, judging my every move like the tiny aquatic king he is.The box itself is super clear, sturdy, and doesn’t take up much space, which makes it easy to move around when needed. Steve has plenty of room to swim and side-eye me while I’m destroying and rebuilding his world. If you’ve got a fish who needs a safe, stress-free spot during tank maintenance or emergencies, this little box is absolutely perfect.

I was hoping this would be better than the old netted style with the plastic frame. It is not. This is a clever design, it is just too tiny. I tried to hold two pregnant moons in it . . . they were so stressed due to the small size that they just went head down. Even with taking the center divider out, it is too tiny. The other issue is the air pump. Seems like a good idea . . . except it's noisy and puts way too much movement in the water. The slots are nicely sized . . . but again a problem. Blackworms can go through, as can flakes, and baby fish.Solid no.
