This Model Y frunk auto latch works very well. It perfectly fit my 2022 year model Y. If you are auto savvy, it will take an hour to install if you are taking your time. The manufacturer has a video which was way too fast but it did enough to show how to install, the printed instructions are merely screenshots of the video with captions printed out, so it’s not anymore helpful but the install difficulty is 5/10. Calibrating the closing height is a bit finicky but you’ll get it if you make slow adjustments. One tip would be to use painters tape and mark where your existing latch is before you undo any fasteners. Overall this latch is awesome for the price point and I feel like my model y is much fancier now and I like to use my frunk more since I don’t have to close it manually anymore.

This is a cool upgrade! Packaging was great. All parts came packaged well and instructions were included and well written out with pictures. I’m all about pictures on instructions and these were good. I am quite mechanically inclined, but this could be installed by someone with less skill than me pretty easily. The hard part came when it was time to re-align the frunk. Even though it really wasn’t too hard it did take me some trial and error to get the frunk sitting correctly. Overall, this is a really cool upgrade and it will save the frunk lid from pushing down on it to close. All you have to do is set it down and it sucks it into place. Definitely worth the effort!

This soft-close power frunk mechanism is easily one of my favorite non-destructive upgrades for my Tesla. The installation took a quick 15 minutes and has completely changed how I utilize the front trunk. I love the added convenience of storing groceries, gym bags, and takeout in the frunk without worrying about items sliding and rolling around. The lock assembly bolted directly onto the existing latch mechanism with minimal to no adjustment required. A helpful tip: I recommend reinstalling the frunk bucket when adjusting the hood height to ensure a good seal around the gasket.
