This voltage regulator/rectifier was a great replacement for the one on my 22 yr old Yamaha FX140 jetski.

Rectifier didn't operate consistently then failed under normal operating conditions.Appeared to regulate at 14.4 volts but would rise gradually while riding them failed all together.

Installed the new regulator and the high voltage to the battery still exist. Took my atv to the shop and the technician diagnosed a bad regulator. So as you can see i'm not very happy. Out the money of the reg. i bought and the 150.00 for the shop call.

I bought this instead of trying to hunt down a factory Yamaha test lead to help diagnose a charging issue on my waverunner. If that's your only desire, then this thing works.Anyway. So after deciding that yes, the original rectifier/regulator had gone bad and this one showed an improvement, I ordered the factory original ($205...). While waiting for that to come in, I took a few test rides with this one and it performed about how I expected. For an hour or so, it would charge to 13.5-13.6 volts. Once it had been run longer than that, the unit seemed to shut down and would stop charging, prompting the wonderful warning light that we all love. Let it cool down overnight and it would return to charging to 13.5.The factory unit charges to 14.7, so it's not like this thing on its best day charges as good as the factory one.
