I am a big fan of this MOVO audio interface. It is two channels, and the quality is just great. I was pleasantly surprised that it came with a case as well. It is the perfect size to throw in your laptop bag and record anywhere you go. I tested with spoken word, vocals, guitar, and keyboards, all with great success. It is low latency and high resolution. I had plug and play success with both Mac and PC, as well as ipadOS and Android. The option to power off a power bank is really cool. Though, you can also just pop some batteries in. All in all, this is one of the best audio interfaces I have used and I would rank it better than some industry standard units of this 2-channel size. I love it and would suggest it.

This is a solid piece of gear for what it does. It's perfect for a small job - if you're a podcaster, musician, or just need a compact setup for recording or performing, this thing does the job.Though not metal, it's sturdy high-impact ABS plastic that can take some abuse. It also comes with a nice rigid travel case that holds the mixer, cables and even spare batteries. There’s a loop on the case so you can clip it to a bag if you’re carrying other gear. This is made to travel. There are two channel inputs with independent gain controls and 48V phantom power, as well as a USB input with mixer. There are 1/4" left and right channel outputs with a master output knob, and two independent headphone jacks with separate gain controls. The power options are nice. It runs on USB-C, but if you’re out somewhere without a plug or powerbank, you can pop in two AA batteries. The batteries only kick in when there’s no USB power, so you don’t have to worry about them draining unnecessarily. And I like that the power button for battery power requires a long press to turn on, so it won’t accidentally power up if the button gets jostled traveling. The output is good - no hiss, no static, just crisp, clean sound. The sample rate is OK at 48 kHz and it has a satisfactory 95dB signal-to-noise ratio. The gain, mix and output dials feel smooth and gradual, not jumpy or finicky. And I was happy to see that the XLR inputs also double as 1/4” jacks, so I didn’t even need to use an adapter for my guitar.Overall, if you need a travel-friendly mixer that gives you clean audio without a lot of fuss, this is a great pick. Easy to use, well-built, and flexible power options.

This is a high quality portable audio interface for the price. It is small, light, solid, versatile, quiet, and produces good recordings. The packaging is excellent, in that it comes with a sturdy zip case that securely holds the interface and the supplied cables, which include a power cable, data cable for use with PCs, and connections for Android phones and iPhones. As far as I/O, there are two combination XLR/1/4 inch input jacks, two 1/4 inch speaker output jacks, and two headphone jacks with separate volume controls. The inputs have volume controls and +48v phantom power buttons, and the output has a large master volume control. There is also a dial for adjusting direct monitoring vs. source monitoring. The device can run on two AA batteries, or you can plug it into any 5v USB port. If you want to record on to a Windows or Mac PC, you can use the USB-c to USB-A data cable plugged into the data port. In practice this turns out to be seamless. The computer instantly recognizes the device and appoints it as the default sound input and output. I've used this with ProTools on a Windows PC, which requires ASIO sound input, and with the free ASIO4ALL download it works perfectly. The preamps are quiet and the recorded sound is very clear and true. At first I did have a little noise on the direct monitoring dial, but there must have been dust in it because it went away after cleaning. I like this device a lot, for its sound, versatility, and portability.

This is a great interface for traveling. The interface itself is made really well, considering it's plastic. I do wish it were made of aluminum or something a little stronger, but it’s not a deal-breaker. I love that it can be powered with either AA batteries or USB-C. It does have separate USB-C ports for power and data, so keep that in mind. When it comes to gain, it works fine for condenser mics, but for gain-hungry mics (e.g., Shure SM7B), you’ll need some help. To keep it portable, I use a FetHead—it provides enough gain for a good, clean sound when I’m sitting in my hotel room. If I hook it up to my PC, I use a Cloudlifter. If you have to crank the gain, the preamps do introduce some noticeable noise, but with the FetHead or Cloudlifter, I can avoid that. It’s easy to use—simple volume knobs without any gimmicks. The headphone outs provide a good, clean sound as well. I’ve been extremely happy with this interface, especially for traveling. My only real gripe? I’d love to see a single-channel version of this.

I chose the Movo MDX-2 2 Channel XLR Portable Audio Interface to record clean audio for my podcast, needing a compact solution for my MacBook Pro. Its compatibility across devices and battery-powered design made it a practical choice for mobile recording. The MDX-2 delivers clear sound with 24-bit/48kHz quality, pairing seamlessly with my MacBook Pro—no drivers needed. The dual XLR inputs handle my condenser mics well with 48V phantom power, and the included USB-C cable simplifies setup. Its lightweight build and travel case are great for on-the-go use.Gain-hungry mics may need a booster, and the battery life (3 hours) can limit long sessions. For the price, it’s a solid, versatile interface for creators.
