The MSR Revo Ascent Backcountry & Mountaineering Snowshoes with Paragon Bindings are the most rugged technical snowshoe in the MSR line. Designed with superior traction for mountaineering, and rugged terrain, they provide stability and durability in challenging conditions. Minimalist Paragon bindings feature a one-piece mesh contouring strap that wraps securely around boots for a glove-like feel that eliminates pressure points and promotes alignment and foot control. The ultra-durable, variable-thickness TPU mesh conforms to a wide range of boots, and maintains strength and flexibility in frigid weather; bindings are field-maintainable. The plastic ExoTract deck has steel teeth around the perimeter, and steel crampons, for bite on traverses and slopes. Rugged, plastic decking offers durability, and provides torsional flex and floatation, while a reinforced nose withstands kickstepping on ascents. Easy-to-engage Ergo Televator heel lifts offer help on the steeps, reducing fatigue. Available in two sizes to accommodate a range of body weights/gear loads: 22-inch snowshoes measure 8x22 inches, weigh 4.41 pounds/pair, and carry a 180-pound load; 25-inch snowshoes measure 8x25 inches, weigh 4.67 pounds/pair, and carry up to 220 pounds. Bindings fit men’s shoe sizes 4.5-15. Sold as a pair. Made in the USA. Three-year limited warranty.

I am used to flexible tails so these seem clunky. But they seem indestructible.

I tried them on in my house on my boots. They are much easier to put on and take off than my MSR LIGHTNING EXPLORE SNOWSHOES. At first, I put the right boot in on the right shoe and set the binding size for the front of my right boot. And do the same thing with the right shoe and boot. And now here is where I see it is easier. The heal strap to wrap around the back of the boot. And fasten the strap on the left side of the right side (the inside of the boot). And the same thing for the left shoe and boot. Wrap the heal strap around the back of the boot. And fasten the strap on the right side (the inside of the boot). Then undo the straps on the back of both shoes on the boots. Put on my boots on my feet. Cross my right leg on my left thigh. And fasten the inside strap on my right shoe on my boot. And do the same thing with my left boot on my left shoe.Put my left foot on the inside of the front binding. Cross my left foot on my right thigh. And fasten the inside strap on my left boot on my left shoe. Whereas the other way with the buckles on the on the outside of the right shoe and right boot. And the outside of the left shoe and boot. It takes a year and a day to get it done. Thats wasting too much time, until I get it right. But I was able to walk with them, Put the televater bar up, and it stays up. And walked a little bit with them in the house. No problem.Well. I gave these snowshoes the real test Okemo Mountain in Ludlow, Vermont when I went on Saturday 3/25/23. And they are great. They live up to their name. REVO ACCESND. They ascended me up the mountain with the televator bar very well and very comfortable. And they deccended me with the televator bar down flat very comfortable. No problem. Easy as pie. A mear bag of shells, if you will. That means it was easy. And the msr lightning explore snowshoes, I'll sell. And that's the bottom line.

These snowshoes are excellent. Used them on a recent wolf hunt in Idaho. They work in all snow conditions. Bindings are extremely easy and fast to use. Only downside from a hunting standpoint is they are loud in snow that isn’t powder. They are expensive but I feel they are for a reason. I literally broke every other pair I’ve owned. I feel these will last a long time!

I have had only very limited snowshoeing experience by wanted a good pair of shoes to use on a trip planned to the Adirondack mountains. I did considerable research and comparison, and found several good options for my experience level and intended use. I settled on MSR because I have owned other products of this brand and have never been disappointed. I chose the Revo Ascent even though thinking perhaps I had over-purchased for my use and perhaps a less expensive model would be adequate.Well, I am glad I chose as I did. The bindings are extremely easy to use and very secure. Never once did I have any fear of slipping out, despite all sorts of snowy, icy, steep terrain. The grip and flotation are excellent too. First day, I hiked a low peak through 18-20 inches of fresh powder, unbroken trail. With full winter day kit I am on heavy side of 200#. The flotation kept me from sinking too deeply, and made the trek quite enjoyable. On another day I was on a trail with several icy areas. The 360 grip allowed me to be confident in my footing even on steep and cross-mountain terrain. They are well constructed and seem durable enough for years of use. Time will tell. So far I am thoroughly pleased and looking forward to next season to use them again!
