I found this easy to install and use. Batteries have lasted nearly a year. Thermostat feature is convenient so you neither have to turn the fireplace on and off to maintain the desired temperature, nor leave the room and forget to turn it off only to return to a 95-degree room.

So far this product has worked very well. We just installed this last week. As it turns out, we really did not need and do not use the thermostat feature and could have saved some dollars by choosing the basic on/off version. Not sure what battery life will be yet. The instructions should be more thorough should include more photos. This was also true with the Napoleon GL30NE gas log set we purchased. The product seems to be good but the instructions with that unit were sadly lacking as well and the photos an instructions told you to install the remote receiver on the back of the gas log set in such a way that you could never have changed the batteries. If you are fairly mechanically/electronically-inclined and a do-it-yourselfer, you'll be able to figure out an appropriate way to install... otherwise, I suspect you will be on the phone with someone about how to appropriately install.
