This Natural Chemistry's phosphate test kit gives pool owners the ability to measure their pool's phosphate level in 30 seconds, yet remains very accurate and easy-to-read. High phosphate levels are the primary cause of algae growth, as phosphates are their primary food source. Phosphate test is one more tool to help owners choose the right products to maintain a clean, healthy pool environment. Kit measures the levels of orthophosphates which are the nutrients for algae growth. Without phosphates algae cannot grow, so controlling phosphates in your pool is very important.

Gave me reassuring results when testing, then treating for pool water phosphates. Saves me a trip or two to the pool store.

You have to bend the strip over so the pads face each other and then insert the strip into a tube full of water with the bent side up. Sounds great, but if the strip gets pushed too far into the tube then you have to use tweezers (or something) to get it out.Kind of a stupid design.

I like many others bought these to combat an invisible enemy to pool care, phosphates. I wasn’t aware that phosphates left unchecked could accelerate the growth of algae and make pool maintenance much harder. I was surprised to learn that my pool was well over 1500, and ideally should be 0-100. After using these strips with a remover I am well on my way to zero. I will keep these strips in my supplies to check monthly and correct as needed for a happy clear pool.

Okay, all the bad reviews is due to the instructions or someone being upset the plastic container broke. It is very difficult to find tests that are this accurate down to this small of ppm. It is VERY RARE. The issue is the directions are trying to dumb this down to the point that someone is not understanding that the reagent is not in the test strip padding that you are reading. When you you fold this IN HALF and place inside the plastic tube (can be any plastic tube if close to same size/shape) the reagent is coming out of the pads to activate the color pads. See, even me trying to explain sounds confusing. Basically, follow the directions - do NOT just dip this in water. You must place inside the plastic tube to activate the reagents to cause the color change. I have bought many different tests on the market from the super expensive that combines in all in one pad but there are not as accurate as these. These are super expensive in my opinion but when I compare the cost to the amount that I will spend on reverse ozone filters or drinking high phosphorus water then I am okay with the price. My water is so high in phosphorus, the water will turn GREEN. It is a BIG secret in Florida how bad the water is from phosphorus mines, to phosphorus fertilizer, phosphorus in animal and human food, and most RX drugs contain phosphorus as preservative. Please test your water for phosphorus. The more you learn about water the better as it can save you lots of money. As a farmer I do not need to buy phosphorus as my water content is so high but I do have to change the PH so the plants can access it. Phosphorus precipitates - so looking at your water which will be crystal clear and with no smell - is MEANINGLESS. Precipitates means it has to come out of the water - so the green is NOT algae it is actually phosphorus. I have had extensive lab testing. The phosphorus so high in my water - my ducks internally laying and DYING due to calcium low due to poison levels of phosphorus. Do you think the State of FLORIDA SENDS out public notices likes in other States or do you think the County lets you know? Of course not. Your water needs to be tested so you can have a healthy body and a healthy family. Thank you for making this and providing this on Amazon.

I recently bought a hot tub that has a chlorine-generating salt system. Before delivery, I had been reading complaints that the "salt cartridge", which is expected to last 3-4 months, was dying in half that time. An alert from my dealer explained that high phosphate levels in the water would cause this.I ordered this test kit and was shocked to see that my city water was loaded with phosphates (1000ppb), where the goal was under 200 or as close to zero as one could get. I've now applied NaturalChemical's PhosFree to see if that helps.I found the test procedure hard to understand at first, with the small diagrams not helping. The key I didn't pick up on at first, though it is in the instructions, is that once you have inverted the tube five times, you take off the cap (and with it the test strip.) Then you set the end of the tube down on one of the white squares on the container and look down into the (now colored) water, comparing the tint to the color scale. It's not as easy as other kinds of test strips where you just dip them and then hold the pad up to the color scale, but I did manage it once I understood the process.Edit: March 13, 2022PhosFree definitely helps - my Phosphate reading went from 1000 to zero in just a few days.
