What is it?

  • This is the cable that pulls open the valve when you turn the throttle. It allows air to get into your engine

  • You should replace your throttle cables after three years or 10,000 miles
  • If a cable breaks, frays, or you change your handlebar you will need a different cable as well

Push Pull Throttle Cable

What is it?

  • A dual cable throttle operation where the pull cable opens the throttle plates, while the push cable, along with a throttle return spring, closes the throttle plates

Installing Tip

  • When installing a new cable, make sure to note the routing of the original cable. Also, the dimensions of the new cables must be identical, allowing for the fact that old cables do stretch over time.

Maintenance

  • After a race or as often as possible after washing to remove the cables from the bike and flush them through with a blast of air. Also the nipples can also be lubricated, with copper grease
