I tried a cheaper version of this but the auto focus did not function which was no fun. I spent a little more to get this one and have no regrets! Not only do all the electronic work with the attached lens but they work quickly. I use it on a Nikon One and it allows me to mount all of my older Nikon auto lens to the smaller Nikon One mount. Very pleased with the results. I would not waist my time looking to save a few bucks, just start with this one. Hefty, well built and delivers super images from my old lens. Glad I got it.

I bought this so I could use my Nikon F mount lenses on a Nikon V2 and V3. Works perfectly, but I advise using only the newer lenses with electronic diaphragm (G or F type) since the Nikon 1 system works best with those lenses. I use it with the 500mm f/5.6E PF ED VR and it works great. Make sure you have the latest firmware installed in the camera and adapter for it to work properly.

It works great! I bought Nikon 1 J5 with the intention to use it with my F mount lens to get the 2.7x crop factor. compared to all the 3rd party adapters, it's more expensive, but you get what you paid for because it does not lose functionalities(like auto focus) or speed on all my lenses(14-24 f2.8, 50mm f/1.8, 105mm f2.8 macro and 28-300mm so far). It's especially useful for shooting macro(105mm becomes almost 300mm) and moon(300mm becomes over 800mm). excellent investment!

Worth the price. The only limitation is that you get center point focus only .But then i could use all the existing Nikon glasses on my V2

Es fenomenal usar los objetivos de la reflex con mi V1. El salto de calidad es increible. Es un accesorio caro, pero es fenomenal.

If you own any Nikon FX or DX telephoto lenses for your other camera bodies, then you must have one of these adapters for your CX format Nikon J/V one or two camera. The crop-factor of 2.7 enables you to take fabulous long tele-photo shots without any loss of aperture or optical quality as one would get by using a teleconverter. I have a 70-300 f4.5/5.6 zoom which, on the V1, becomes an f5.6 810mm lens! The VR works using this adapter and so one can take 810mm shots hand-held with a lens costing just £450: try doing that on an FX body. Fantastic bit of kit. However, Nikon charge a horrendous sum (around £220) for what is nothing more than a lens mount adapter with a pass-through electrical connection for Nikons G series lenses. But it is very well made (all metal) and works beautifully. One word of warning though; if you mount a VR lens on the adapter, it's energized the whole time and not just when you press the shutter release, and so, you must remember to turn VR off at the lens if you normally shoot with the camera switched on all the time, otherwise you'll have flat battery in no time.

I participate on a few photography forums and almost everyone who gets this FT1 adapter use it for telephoto long shooting because of the outstanding 2.7x crop factor. Suddenly 200mm becomes 540mm and any longer lens you might own becomes perfect lenses for wildlife and birding. The V1/J1 and FT1 adapter would be perfect wildlife photography (or portraits on people) except Nikon has decided to hold back the capabilities. Yes it single center autofocuses, but I don't see why it can't have all the capabilities as the standard 1 lenses. The only reason I can figure is because Nikon is afraid of hurting their dSLR sales, but I think that's a bogus reason. Sure the 1 system has blazing fast autofocus, great metering, as good as dSLR video capabilities, but it's not going to hurt their dSLR sales because people who want the absolute best image quality will still get a dSLR. I own a D3 and it's still my go-to camera in the studio and for events, but when it comes to going out for fun and shooting (like at hikes) I want to go small and that's when I bring my V1. The FT1 gives the camera awesome telephoto options but then limits the autofocus capabilities; that really irritates me because I'm sure they went out of their way to do this!Imagine if they allowed all the AF abilities on the FT1. Suddenly birds could be tracked while flying! Things running towards you could be in focus all the time and all you'd have to do is hold the shutter down. The capability is there... it just needs to be unlocked by Nikon. While the FT1 is great and if you already own Nikon AFS lenses you owe it to yourself to try out this adapter, it's not perfect when I'm sure it's just a firmware upgrade away from being so. I really hope Nikon comes to their senses and stops limiting this adapter!

The Nikon 1 Series provides a small capable camera that can be paired with extremely small lenses (10, 10-30 and 30-110) that provide excellent optical performance in a package that's extremely small and lightweight. For those times when size and weight are not as critical as other factors, this handy piece of gear provides access to all those "F" lenses in the world.I bought the J1 as a gift for my wife (with 10, 10-30 and 30-110 lenses) since it's got sufficient IQ and speed for her photographic needs, but is small and light enough that she'll carry it along. The FT-1 was bought primarily for her to use with the new 50/1.8G that sees little time on my D7000 (75mm is an awkward focal length for me). On the J1 the 50 becomes a 135/1.8 and has proven to be an excellent portrait lens and useful "fast-tele" for her, while still being relatively light weight and ergonomic. The FT-1 works just as advertised and is very solid and well crafted. The only rub is that the Nikon 1 firmware did not originally support the FT-1 and had to be updated, which took about an hour of time reading the instructions, doing the download and swapping cards, etc. Well worth it.Now I just have to keep my wife away from my 300/4 AF-S and the new 85/1.8G when it arrives.
