This Device was advertised to use on a roof without penetrating the roof. It comes with one 5 foot section of 1.25 Diameter mast (to which I added 10 additional feet of 1.25 heavy duty mast pipe - reviewed elsewhere). I used it to put my tempest weather station (reviewed elsewhere) 15 feet above the ground to get better readings without being blocked by homes and other objects. I could have mounted the weather station on the roof or on the side of the home using other devices but for reasons not important here I decided to mount it from the ground using this mount. It was easy to put together and set up, even with the 10 feet of additional mast. As recommended I weighed it down with concrete blocks. I also covered the base with landscaping rocks to match the rest of my landscaping. I painted it and the mast to match the accent/trim of my home. Additionally, I grounded it using a grounding device purchased from amazon. So far during a recent hurricane with made landfall 100+ miles away the highest winds I have seen have been 30 MPH. During these gust I went out and observed the mount and mast and saw no significant movement, It far surpassed my expectations.
