The installation was so easy. The fridge is light for 2 people like us. We set to run it with 100ah Lithium battery for 2 days . It run perfectly.

I replaced an old Norcold 6 cu.ft. absorption frig with the Norcold Polar N8DC. Silly me, I thought I'd stick with a company that seemed to make good products. Right out of the box the freezer worked but the frig did not. Eventually after an hour or so the frig started cooling down. This frig has two separate compressors, so one wasn't working as well as the other. On my first trip with it, the freezer worked well, but the frig sometimes worked OK and sometimes did not. I discovered Norcold won't even talk to you about problems unless the frig is wired directly to the coach battery with the correct gauge wire. Even though the frig had 10 gauge wire, I rewired it directly to the battery about 10 feet away with 8 gauge wire, which is thicker than required. However that didn't fix the issue. I was able to get a Norcold service center replace the control unit and control board, but I had to pay a $450 diagnostic fee, as this is not covered under warranty. The technician said he sees all kinds of problems with the Norcold Polar DC refrigerators, they are overly complex and poorly designed, and they are not very reliable. It would have been nice to have that info before I bought it. So far I've got $2400+ in this frig. Maybe I got a lemon, but Norcold is very unresponsive to their customers and parts are frequently on back order, plus you have to pay diagnostic fees, so if you are looking at buying a DC frig, perhaps you should consider buying something else.

This was an exact replacement for what was in our motorhome and the install was pretty easy. We had to remove the doors and back bumpers to fit it through our door but it fit. The hardest part was fitting it through the door and the rest was easy. Love this fridge when it is working as it cools so much better than a 3 way fridge. You can actually have frozen ice cream in the freezer. I hope this one lasts longer than 3 years. The original one only lasted that long so I am hoping for better.It was shipped freight and arrived in perfect condition. You do need to call the freight company to give them your phone number as Amazon does not provide them your real phone number. Call the company you bought it from to find out who the freight company is. That is what I had to do. This info will save you headaches if you are not hearing about your delivery date.

Running a Refrigerator 24/7/365 is NOT like running a car a million miles ...I am currently running 10cu residential but it takes more electric because its frost free +invertthe dimensions are the same on some home units, I would love to save some juice and getback some shelf space, but I wont be suckered into spending a ton of money on a productthat wont last a reasonable amount of time. 10 years minimum on a refer, should be 20+Are these units not de-bugged yet? Dometic , norcold have ripped its customer base for too long.Furrion has these units too. Good luck to anyone that buys one, I would love to hear some longer results.

I wedged this thing into a lance camper where a 5.6 ammonia absorption used to be. Stepping up to 8.0 was more than 33% increase in space.This fridge runs directly on 12 vdc. Shore power and generators use the charger/converter to charge the 12vdc battery. Solar charges battery.One deep cycle battery and 200 watts solar can keep you unplugged for a week in Georgia summers. After three to four semi cloudy days you will need to plug in or start a generator.We kept frozen foods and cold foods in this and ran it non stop for just shy of two years. Today it is dead.I believe I will get another just like it.If you ran your car at 100mph non stop for one year it would have 876,000 miles on it.As much as I would like for this appliance to last ten years, you have to consider what it does for you. ?
