It is way too tall. Thought I could use just one extension. Cannot. Need to return.

This is a quality item, and very good looking. It's for and finish are better than average for the price, but pay mind to the reviews about adding petroleum jelly- the threads will stick when you're trying to assemble it otherwise. Spend the $ and get a metal item of this quality, otherwise you will get a cheesy resin birdbath for half the price that will fade and last you for maybe 2 years.

We just assembled our new bird bath. It was a little tricky. Be sure the birds are upright on the post, then I am sure everything will fit just fine. I put a little vaseline on the treads too to make fitting it together a little easier. The product has some weight to it which is good. I don't think it will tip over. It has a nice large base too. We put it together today and it is winter here, so we are keeping it inside until spring. I like the colors. It is silver and gold and has the two little birds which are screwed to the bowl. It is really quite lovely. I hope the birds love it too...One extra comment. There was an email with the birdbath to use to ask any questions we had but the email was missing some letters. I wonder how I could get the complete email. There doesn't seem to be any link to the company the birdbath came from.

I'm giving this bird bath 5 stars, now that it's completed. It's solid and hefty and I like the artistic organic look. Wind should be no problem, unlike with lighter resin and plastic baths. I think I received the slightly more difficult version to assemble (with screws, bolts, nuts and washers). I needed to make some slight adjustments for overall fit and alignment: (1 I used an extra washer on one of the three bolts just under the bath to make it perfectly level. (2 Where the two column halves are attached, I wrapped the male fitting in duct tape so it fit snuggly before tightening the bolt. It all seems quite sturdy now. A beautiful focal point for a garden!

I would recommend this item. It is very pretty. The 4 pieces screw together quite easily but I would DEFINITELY recommend the use of pipe thread compound or for most people, a little petroleum jelly. Screwing the pieces together without the compound/jelly was almost impossible but using a little lubrication, they went together like a breeze. Spread it on the 'male' threads, then screw it together. Easy. The minor flaws are (1) they should have included on the the small packs of petroleum jelly - like a 1/4 TBSP and (2) even when screwed together fully, the top leans slightly. Since the parts are all screwed fully down, it is in the casting. These are absolutely minor flaws and it is a good product so i gave it 5 stars.

This bird feeder is very poorly cast and nearly impossible to put together. I will never patronize the company who sold this product. I am amazed that they even offered it for sale and it wasn't cheap ($120). I have worked in the field of industrial tooling for many years in addition to graduating from machinist school. In other words, I can fix stuff. If you do not have common machinists or mechanics tools, you will never get this piece of crap put together. This is what I needed: metal file, tap and die set, metric socket set, longer bolts than the ones supplies, Loctite, and some different washers. It took me an hour and a half to assembly when it should have taken about 15 minutes if it was properly made. Had I not modified it to get it together, I would have returned it. Save yourself the trouble and just don't buy it. First, I had to file the casting seam on the bowl mounting flange in order to seat the washers. Then, I had to tap out 2 of the 3 mounting holes for the bowl because they didn't line up with the flange. If I had used the bolts they supplied, I would not have been able to use the washers and only about 1/8" of the bolt would have been threaded into the base. If you pick this up by the aluminum bowl, the cast iron base will just come off and you will have stripped the threaded bolt holes. I wouldn't have been able to assemble this without having good mechanical skills and the correct tools. The average person should avoid this piece of Chinese junk and buy something else.
