Rode it from Boston to Bar Harbor and back, the only issue was a bit of difficulty adjusting the front derailleur for the big ring. After some measuring when I got back I realized I have a road derailleur on the bike, which wants a 45mm chainline spacing instead of the 47.5 MTB standard. It's running perfectly now with a 107mm spindle - if you have a MTB front then you probably want a 113. (look up chainline on sheldonbrown dot com for more info)Also I've had a bit of trouble in the past with lower-cost cranksets being out of true - this one runs perfectly straight through the front derailleur. (well, until you haul on the pedals, of course)

Great crankOffer it with sensible ratios.48 is acceptable28 is good for all but the most grueling ascents. And leave the 38 at home....unless you fit it on a 1×.Offer a 24t in 74BCD...it will fit the low side crank bosses - Irritated in Arabia, now again, a mundane mountain climbing fast canal commuter in ArizonaThis crank is bomb proof, but under the extreme distances with which I run it , I think the ratios need adjusting if you climb, tow or run long with a 29'er.I go through a high ring about 3,500 miles or so, and the 28t/42t was barely enough to get my 130lb camping trailer from Tempe to Mogollon Summit. I put on a Suguno 24t there after. I normally run 34/46, prefer big 9 speeds, only tripled to pull a trailer in the mountains.

This Origin8 is an exact match replacement of the 28T/38T/48T / 175mm and a nice upgraded for a used, non roller, forgotten 2005 Specialized Sirrus 24 speed I am bringing back to life. Along w/ a BB UN-55 / 68mm /113mm Shimano BB + correct tools, it was an easy swap. Rolling and shifting very nicely after installing, adjusting front and rear derailleur. Part was here the next day along with the BB. I would buy this again if needed and still available.

This crankset is light weight and well made, at a good price. And has a classic look.

Fit my 2010 Marin Larkspur perfectly. It's light for a hybrid/touring set, looks good, Shifts smoothly. Can't vouch for durability of the rings yet. Origin 8 sources other manufacturer products. For what it's worth, my cranks were embossed with the Sugino logo, which is known for its durability/reliability.

Easy to install, works great and looks teriffic. Very well made and would buy again. When I replaced the stock crankset on My schwinn Midmoor it worked great ,the stock one was a piece of crap and heavy.I am very satisfied with My purchase. A+++

Origin-8 makes very high quality products at nearly unbelievable prices and this is another example. This crankset is light, strong and beautiful. The shifting is perfect with a Shimano XT dérailleur. I have several Origin-8 products on both of my bikes and I have not been disappointed with any of them. The quality of their products will stand up with any manufacturer excluding the boutique brands like Tiso - and at half the price of most major name brand parts. I recommend this and any origin-8 product to anyone that is willing to listen to me.
