These caps get lost. They do help keep the grease where it belongs. It also keeps the dirt and dust away from the axle. Makes for a nice appearance too.Heat up with hair dryer or in a cup of almost boiling water to make flexible enough to put on or remove.

Got this because had to remove front tires a few times on a craftsman mower, ended up making small slits in old ones because were so hard to get on even with heat gun, etc. These just popped on though I was a bit nervous would just fall off once got going. Stayed on though so nice replacement for original that I altered then fell off and got destroyed.
