Unfortunately, I had to return the first keyboard due to the J button not functioning, but the replacement arrived literally the next day after I contacted the vendor. After I installed the 2nd keyboard, I tested my laptop and concluded that everything worked perfectly. If this is your first time replacing anything on your laptop, it really isn't difficult, but rather tedious with a lot of unscrewing (note, make sure you have a T5 and T6 screwdriver as well as a phillips; tweezers highly recommended as well ) and find a good walk-through video on Youtube to guide you through the process. It will take a while, roughly, 2-3 hours, so patience is required and be sure to keep your pieces/screws separated and organized through the process.Would highly recommend vendor for future purchases. Thank you coming to my Ted Talk

I bought this for my mid 2012 macbook pro (I bought the laptop from someone that said the middle keys were not working, when I took the original keyboard out, there had been a spill, small enough not to ruin the whole laptop but big enough to ruin the middle row of keys). I chose this keyboard because it shipped to me in 1 day with prime shipping, and the reviews were decent. Lots of videos on youtube and ifixit on how to replace these keyboard, and it is a bit of a chore (everything essentially has to come out of the laptop first to gain access to the keyboard and then the keyboard itself has over 50 tiny screws holding it into the case, so that is just a bit tedious). The online guides make the process very doable, but just make sure you give yourself enough time (took maybe 1.5-2 hours from start to finish). The quality of this keyboard seems good, it fit into the case great, it looks good, I reused the backlight that was already in the computer (just have to be careful when taking it apart not to rip or ruin it, and it goes back in over this replacement keyboard great and works just like it should).Once I finally got it back together, I tested the keyboard, seemed to be working good, was very satisfied, but then I started noticing some odd behavior. Specifically the spacebar would act like it was being pressed even when it wasn't being pressed. Even resting my wrist on the front of the laptop would make phantom space bar presses appear. While typing, even if I brushed against the space bar it would register a key press, sometimes even if nothing was touching the computer, the space bar would press, it was odd.I came back here and actually read some of the other reviews and found that I wasn't the only person with this problem (some people had issues with other buttons, but same behavior, phantom or ultra sensitive keys). I was a little discouraged thinking I was going to have to purchase a new keyboard and go through the entire process of disassembly and reassembly to replace the keyboard again. Before I went to the cost and bother of installing another new keyboard, I figured I'd take the spacebar key off (found a video on youtube that was helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-O06r6-pqo&ab_channel=ER the key on this replacement keyboard was a tiny bit different than the video, but good enough to help get the key off and back on again after working on it). Once I had the key off, I looked to see how the key worked, and there is a rubber nub in the middle of the space bar that when pressed down makes contact with the metal part of the keyboard chassis (not sure if that is the right word, but the metal frame part of the keyboard that gives it structure). I think my metal chassis part was bent up a bit, not much, but enough that it basically was bowed in the middle and made the rubber nub be almost pressed when the keyboard space bar was just at the resting position. So I took my finger and carefully applied pressure to the part of the keyboard on the space bar between the 2 plastic hinges (where the rubber nub is). I just carefully pushed down to try to get rid of the bowing up in the middle, so that the nub wouldn't rest half pressed all the time. After I bent the area down a bit, I reinstalled the space bar key (again the video was very helpful for this), and then turned on the computer and tested it out. It's working just as it should now, no phantom presses, no super sensitive, just normal function. I am SOOOO glad I don't have to take this thing back apart. Time will tell whether this is a permanent fix or just a bandaid, but it feels like a long term solution honestly. If it starts acting up again, or I have any other issues, I will update this review, but I'm hoping this might help someone else in my situation that doesn't want to have to tear the entire laptop apart to replace the keyboard for a second time. I attached a pic of my computer showing where I pressed to "bend" down the keyboard backing, hope this helps!

Changing your keyboard is quite a task. But it is do-able. This keyboard looks nice and appeared to be the perfect fit. My one big complaint is the screws shipped with this keyboard. They are not the same as the original. They are slightly shorter. They still work but are much more difficult to use. So my suggestion is to keep the original screws and reuse them.Be very careful connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. There is a blue plastic strip on the end of this cable. DO NOT try to remove it as the cable won't work without it. This is an annoyance but would be true for any keyboard.

Update: 2018-MAR-10New keyboard arrived and I just finished installing it, and I am updating this review using with the reassembled 13-inch Mid-2012 MacBookPro!The replacement keyboard is fantastic, so far. They keys look great and everything seems to be working as it should. As mentioned in my original review, and as seen in others', the feel of the keys is different to that of the original Apple keyboard. To me the keys feel "muted", both in sound and "bounciness". I can get used to this, and in fact may prefer this slightly more "stiff" keyboard to the original. But, whatever your individual preference for keyboard "feel", you can't beat the price of this replacement keyboard! Some tips for the non-techician that wants to do this replacement him/herself:1. Watch a few videos on youtube on this process. I suggest The 8-bit guy's video from some years ago.2. Have the right tools for the job. I'm using . It has all necessary bits for this project. A good magnifier is also good to have but not necessary. Bits I used where Phillips 00 and 000, T6 and Tri-wing 1 (but keep in mind: I am NOT a proper technician, just an average joe trying to fix his laptop!)3. Take your time. This isn't a beat-the-clock competition.4. Make notes so you know where each screw was removed from and which order each part was removed. I made a crude drawing of the internals placed each screw I removed on that sheet of paper, in the appropriate location. Then make sure your cat doesn't jump on that piece of paper!5. Take pictures for reference. Especially if you are not comfortable with this procedure and this project may take a few days to complete.6. Take your time!7. The ribbon is very trick to put back in its slot/connector. Take your time with it and don't force it! Otherwise, you risk damaging the ribbon. Practice with the old keyboard's ribbon to get the hang of it before trying it with the replacement keyboard's ribbon.8. Don't over tighten the screws as you replace them.9. Take your time and be patient.Original review:It shipped very quickly and arrived within a day with Prime. However, the first thing I noticed was that the main connector ribbon had a crease across it. I immediately requested to return the item.I am planning to place a second order for this item with the hope that the second unit will arrive undamaged and in working order. I will revise my review accordingly after I receive the second unit.Quite a few reviews indicate that the "quality" and "feel" of the keys aren't anywhere near that of the Apple's original keyboard. This is true. The keys look very nice and they press and return fine, but they seem "stiff" or "muted" compared to the original keyboard. However, for the price this keyboard is a great deal.
