So these are not super fine sponges but they work well for most clay molding and mop up, you just might want something finer and more even texture for finish work. As shown in the picture, these ship super flat but puff up quickly when exposed to water or even air. They're stronger than some sponges I've used which have literally fallen apart with any pressure, these are holding together. Again, not what I would consider finish sponges but you get a lot in the package and they should be fine for most clay work.

They’re pretty rough on the edges, so I removed a star only for that - they’re pretty comparable to a basic low-cost sponge found anywhere though. I’m using them for pottery, and they do fine!
