Volume knob + center detent + ON/OFF switch!!!I use mine with a Lone Wolf "Boogieman" pedal straight to the board. To get that Chicago blues sound, I crank the volume knob all the way to get the "bite". Maybe it could have a bit more volume at the detent, but there are a number of ways of achieving that.It sounds good through amps, too - I've tried it. I just prefer less set up since I also play keys. :)I find the mini XLR-to-1/4" cable to be no problem at all for my needs, and it seems stable enough for typical use (I just wouldn't pound nails with it - I'd use a Shure SM58 instead LOL)

I wish the volume was more sensitive.

Just a little cleaner that Shure Bullet - but the mic can be made as dirty as you want depending on AMP and pedal setup

I tried one out, I didn't buy it. Horrible harsh tone. Audix makes a great mic if you want a clean tone. ...Greg Heumann of BlowsMeAway Productions makes, imho, the best harp mics in the biz.

Replacement cord available thru Peavy. My local music store sent my cord in and I recd a new one FREE. Have used Hohner Blues Blaster (orig) but just it fixed and has terrible buzz. This one is quiet even w/o a noise gate. Also like Sure 57 and 58 although they lack mic volume control, a BIG deal for me when I am playing out and have difficulty w access to my amp. This is a worthwhile product from Peavy.

i've been blowin this thing for a year or so. it's rock solid, with a good feeling in the hand. the basic tone is excellent; gives a professional-sounding blues tone. i played a shure green bullet for years, and i like this better in every respect. the only reason i didn't give it 5 stars is the mini xlr cable into the back: i really think they should be making these mics to just plug in with a guitar cable. on the other hand, at least it plugs into the mic; once my green bullet's cord wore out at the mic, it was a hassle to replace it, and it was never quite reliable after that.
