Artist Susan Williams Ellis created Botanic Garden to depict a full range of flowers as found in English gardens from antique botanical books. Now, this new range branches out to include beautiful and vibrantly colored tropical flowers. Each piece in this new collections coordinates perfectly with traditional Botanic Garden, both in shape and Design. The Hibiscus Bread and Butter Plate is available as a single motif, or in a set of six assorted motifs.

It isn't a bread & butter plate, but a dinner plate. Not bad for the $$ -- hence the 1 star -- but not at all what I wanted. Sigh.

I ordered this design and also another in the Exotic collection of Portmeirion's Botanic Garden. I have been collecting and using this pattern for about 25 years. The dish I received has a fairly good sized dimple above the larger flower. It had not been listed as defective or of a lesser quality. I am very disappointed. It has been returned.

I bought Portmeirion years ago because I was tired of always having to buy a new set of dishes every time one set, plates, bread and butter, salad plates, finally broke. Piecing together different patterns just didn't work for me. With Portmeirion, you can always replace the broken pieces. That being said, the plates made in England are of a much better quality than those made in Asia - be certain to always check to see where your replacement pieces come from. These exotic pattern designs don't really look that well with my more traditional flower patterns.
