Replacing HD air shocks should have been done a while ago.

Bought these from Powersports Parts on Amazon. Quick shipping, new in box, lowest price around. Can't beat that with a stick. Replaced the stock Harley air shocks on my 2015 Road King with these. What a major improvement! I have not set the correct sag yet, just went with the setting from the manufacturer and even with that it is an improvement. I am sure once I set them up correctly the ride will be even better. Simple process to replace the stock ones, took maybe 30 min total ( I took my time to make sure I didn't miss a step). I went with the heavy duty version as I weight 240lbs, so a bit below the 250lb mark, but with crap in my bags, I can easily approach that. Plus, when riding 2up, the heavy duty should be perfect. Also, these are supposed to be 1in lower than my stock shocks but, honestly, I cannot tell that it sits 1 in lower. All in all, I highly recommend these. Next up will be a progressive upgrade for my front end.

One word........UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!!!! I had a 2010 Road Glide until last fall. For the entire 2015 riding season, I had severe back pain whenever I rode for even an hour or two. Bought a very expensive seat to try to fix the problem, which did no good. I bought a used 2015 Road Glide last fall that had been fitted with aftermarket 10 1/2 inch shocks (Burly slammers, I think). The back problems continued with the new bike, plus, as an added bonus, when riding 2 up, we would painfully bottom out on every little bump in the road. I purchased the Progressive Suspension 944 Ultra Touring Heavy Duty shocks only for the purpose of improving the ride to tolerable by alleviating the painful bottoming out. I installed the new Progressives one Saturday evening, adjusting them to what I guessed was a middle of the road setting. We took off on a test ride on Sunday. WOW! WOW! WOW! What a difference!! We both noticed immediately that the ride was far more comfortable. I even found myself hitting some small potholes in the road on purpose to test them.....no issues, some bigger potholes....still no issues. My wife mentioned several times that the ride from her position was fantastic. I hit a couple railroad crossings faster than normal just to further test. Barely felt the tracks!! And here's the UNEXPECTED BONUS: I got home after a few hours on the road.......and NO BACK PAIN!!! First pain free ride in well over a year. I am giving these shocks 5 stars only because I can't give them any more.

Just the details:- Amazon says it won't fit my 2013 Street Glide, but it does. (Called the dealer to verify part numbers)- I purchased the heavy duty shocks and glad I did - I'm pushing 250 with my gear on.- One thing I didn't read anywhere and was a little upset about at first; there's a warning page in the box that says the shocks must be mounted upside down on HD baggers that use the shock mount for detachable accessories. (Sissy bar). However, we made a 1/4" spacer to fit between the shock mount and bushing and this allowed the shock to be mounted upright with no issues.- I purchased new front springs to go with the new rear springs but did NOT go heavy duty on these based on the dealer recommendations. We used the standard spring with 20 weight oil and it's about perfect!- Riding solo, I have the pre-load on the rear shocks set to 1 full turn on the collar, and the ride is excellent!- I'm still working to dial in the pre-load with the wife on back, but even in the solo position, she claims it's much better than the stock air shocks. I expect another .5 - 1 turns on the collar and she'll be a happy passenger.- The bike sits at least an inch lower and the handling around corners is great!- I only have the stock air shocks to use as a comparison and can't say if other brands would be better, but I'm very happy with the Progressive shocks and would buy them again for the next bike.

OK - this is MAYBE the toughest product decision / purchase I've had in MANY years. Being Amazon Prime and the great return policy made me pull the trigger....and also a few conversations with Progressive folks themselves...and maybe a dozen guys at my local HD dealer...and then my club....and a few more... and I may have stopped guys on the street.... lol.. seriously...this was HARD to decide.why? because we just traded our 1998 Road King Police - an awesome bike but not made originally for 2-up, for a 2004 Ultra Classic. The air shocks were apparently wore out and kept bottoming out. We didn't notice it on our short test ride...but after a week of owning it, 800 miles of riding in 6 days, and bottoming out over 100 times at least during that week...we had to move on. You see, in the prior year my wife had MAYBE rode with me a total of 5 times...maybe a few hundred miles...the Road King Police was just too rough for her...and I'd rather have a bike she likes and have her with me! So it was SO hard to decide on getting rid of the air shocks and their comfy ride...until they bottomed out of course.we tried as much as 35 pounds of air -the max for that model bike - and as low as 18. I weigh 280ish....my wife 120ish...and then we load up the bags with some gear...and we just could NOT find a place it didn't bottom out. The HD dealer said they'd tear them apart - and IF they were bad, had no oil, or bad seals, etc...then they'd fix them for free...but if they were OK...then I'd have to pay a boatload of money to them for the labor and to put them back on...and still have the same problem. They recommended the Progressives. As did every web site, forum, and person I talked to....but...my wife has a disability, some soreness in her back...and the REASON we traded for the Ultra Classic was a lot about her comfort. It's got a real seat, back, and radio speakers all for her...and the ride was like a Cadillac...we loved it. She wanted to ride with me every day that first week - and that's RARE for her. We didn't want to lose the "soft ride" but didn't want to bottom out anymore. After we set the sag and the turns on the shock for both our weight....it's ALMOST as nice as the air bags. It doesn't have the ultra plush ride 'cadillac' ride we loved...but as my wife said...it's not that different that she'd not want to ride...and the benefit of not bottoming out crossing an intersection, railroad track, or driveway apron....so she's happy. When it's just me riding alone - which admittedly isn't a lot - I find the shocks to be pretty tough. I'd say they are on par with some of my dirt bike set ups over the years...set hard to protect me in the jumps and whoops...and it's gonna be stiff the rest of the time....again, I'm used to this...I think some call it "sport suspension" or "connected to the road"...heck, I don't really want that in a touring bike...but I'm ok, and it's not worth it to mess with the adjustments when it's so rarely that I ride alone on this new bike of ours.So - overall - I give them 5 stars - they are the top of the line progressive shock that I saved $250 bucks buying here on Amazon - and they work pretty darn well for us when the wife is on the back, just almost as cushy as the air system...with NO bottoming out and that's a pretty good compromise.
