Service-free Operation:

Without the need for any adjustments or settings. Line pressure moves the solid plastic ball off the elastomer seat, opening the valve. When the inlet flow stops, back pressure moves the ball back onto the seat – stopping the flow.

Very loud chatter noise with any water flowing through it. So useless in horizontal position, should be listed as limited uses - vertical, one direction only. check other reviews to see same issue. Wasted time plumbing it in, and then replacing :-(

The spring puts too much of a preload on the valve. Luckily for my purposes, gravity alone will seat the valve, so I pulled the spring and it stopped all the chattering noise.

Bought for my sump pump. Doesn't need the spring if vertical. Still good almost a year later. Purchased so I could take it apart and clean it if it gets dirty and fails. Should last forever.
