Great radio. Mine puts out 68w roughly when actually transmitting. Pretty happy with it. It isn't complicated to figure out how to use, but I definitely use the instructions until I used it a number of times. I am happy with it for the money. I talk 24 miles as the crow flies and I can do that with this radio on the lower-medium power output. Around 10w.Very nice radio. Highly recommend if you need a solid power output.

This Radioddity VB70-B Mobile Radio Transceiver appears to be very well-made and to have a sold build quality. It has some weight to it, which makes me feel confident that it was built with high quality electronics and materials. I'm going to be completely honest here, and admit that I saw this radio listed on my Vine list, and I thought it was a CB radio, and decided to get it to put in my old 4x4. Well, this is NOT a CB radio, and apparently I have a LOT of research to do to figure out how to use this, AND I will have to have a license to use it as well. I've been curious about HAM radios, so it should be interesting to learn how to use it. Other reviewers are saying this is a good radio and they seem to know what they are talking about. But, like I said, it looks and feels like a high quality device, so I have no doubt that it is.

Overall, this is a pretty outstanding radio. It's a little hard to beat it up. However, I had a few issues with it. Biggest one being, VHF only. A lot of our local repeaters are on UHF. This is especially true of our linked repeaters. This means my reach within the state is radically reduced. It's not the radios fault as such (hence still four stars), but it does make this a very limited radio. Also, the other big issue I have with it is the lack of a programming cable. This radio requires a very specific cable. It won't work with the Kenwood plug that so many other radios do work with (including other Radioddity radios such as the DB-25D). So you have track that down and purchase it. And you're going to want to. While you can use the buttons and the knob on the radio itself to set signals, offsets and tones, it is not easy. I was tempted to go down to three stars, but, look, for what it does, it's an outstanding radio.Construction is extremely solid. It's got a rugged tough feel. The buttons on the radio are rubberized. They've got a very positive click feel when pushed which is great. The screen is very clear and easy to see, even in pretty direct light. The microphone is nicely put together and has a ton of functionality built into it. The buttons here also have a very good click to them. Overall, I'm impressed with the materials used and the construction. One issue with the construction, and the only one I spotted, was that the microphone (or the programming cable, I had a spare one from another Radioddity radio) goes in to the radio, but it's still not seated. You have to push it a little further in for it to be fully seated. That's a bit of a pain because, while you can't just pull the plug out completely. It locks in. But you can unseat it without unplugging it, affecting the behavior. What happened to me was transmission was fine, but the buttons wouldn't work until I got the cable fully seated.Reception is fantastic. Sound quality is good. Signal reports are respectable. I was easily hitting repeaters 20 miles from the house (although, to be fair, we're on a hill and I have the antenna at the top of the house, height is might). Operation of the radio is very straight forward. The programming software isn't the greatest. And, currently, the radio isn't supported on CHIRP (an open source programming software for literally hundreds of different radios). It made it harder to set up with repeaters, etc., since copy & paste from CHIRP wasn't possible and there was no import from CSV files or anything like that. However, it worked just fine. Programming was pretty straight forward and I had all the control over the radio I needed to prep it for transmission to my local repeaters.I like the inclusion of the bluetooth PTT button. It paired up nicely with the radio and made it possible to use the radio in pretty much a hands free manner. You can also pair it with the car or a headset for the sound and microphone to also be remote from the radio. All of it worked and was pretty easy to do following the instructions in the manual.Speaking of the manual, it's well written in actual English. It's easy to understand and follow. It seems pretty complete in the basic operation of the radio.Overall, this is a pretty outstanding radio. I'm bummed that there's no programming cable. I'm really bummed that it's VHF only. And I'm concerned that the mic can be slid out making functionality a bit off. Those three things prevent this from being a five star radio.

Another great mobile radio from Radioddity. This is a 2m only radio and out was tested with a Surecom SWR meter along with a 100 watt dummy load. Output power is 68 watts respectively and though the radio didn't come with a data cable. A quick search of the on the website found out that any cable that works on the Anytone 788UV will work with this radio.I was able to download the CPS and though it was clunky and with a few bugs. I was able to upload some repeaters into the radio without any issues. Tested the radio with a cheapy dual band mag mount and audio was super clear going into the repeater and audio coming out of the audio was clear and loud. My audio going into the repeater was clear with no background noise or static.I used the radio for a good 3 hours non stop on high power, didn't see the built in fan kicked on. The only issues I ran into was getting the supplied PTT button to pair up with the radio and also the radio menu is not very clear and concise. Other than that, the radio has a good weight to it and feels solid and well made. The mic has a decent weight to it and is not too light where it feel cheap.Overall the radio is great and though the menu could be cleaned up a bit, hopefully there will be a firmware upgrade soon to fix the little things. But as for RX/TX this radio is great and I probably going to use it as a base station along with my other UHF radio. Great mobile radio from the brand as always.

I'm not going to get into all the techie details but I will tell you the build quality on this transceiver is rugged and solid. Do keep in mind this is a 2M only radio. It's also VHF only. So if you're looking for UHF as well, it's not be available on this model. Uploading repeaters is a bit clunky but still works fine.Overall though, I would still say you get good bang for your buck with this radio transceiver.
