Purchased 3 of these (unpainted versions), as I was looking for small usable kerosene lanterns.Lantern #1: Globe did not sit flush on metal globe plate. Lever bracket was loose and wobbly. Lever would slip out of bracket when trying to raise the globe. After 1/2 hour of rudimentary metal work, was able to make it work, as long as you held the Lever in from the back, as you raised the globe. Flame was still not satisfactory, flickering and changing in height. Tabs that hold the Lever bracket in place as well as the bail handle fit loosely in the air tubes, allowing air in and defeating the basic design of a cold blast lanternLantern #2: Lever bracket loose, but operational. When I attempted to adjust the flame, the wheel spun, but wick did not move. Thinking it might be a thin wick, I pulled wick out and tried a new wick. Could not get new wick or original wick back in. It seems that the burner was stamped, pressed, or assembled around the wick. Lantern now completely useless.Lantern #3: Same issue as #2, but wick was not even high enough to light. Attempted to rebuild burner, but pressed Tabs were so thin/cheap they broke as I tried to bend them back. Lantern now completely useless.So....After purchasing 3 lanterns, I only have 1 that takes 3 hands to light, flickers and requires constant attention as the flame increase/decreases at the slightest draft. If by some stroke of luck the cheap metal components last more than a few cycles of raising the globe to light, there will be no way of replacing the wick.
