From the factory it felt like there was a light grease applied but I couldn’t see much of anything when I opened the differential so I added some oil before I installed it. Went in to the rear end assembly and the gears meshed up perfectly as expected.

Upgraded the stock differential in my Slash 2WD with this aluminum gear. The red anodizing looks decent, but the main thing is the material. Aluminum should hold up better than the plastic gears, especially with the brushless motor. Installation was pretty straightforward; it dropped right in as a direct replacement for the #2388X part. After a few runs at the local dirt track, the new diff feels smooth and hasn't shown any signs of slipping or wear. This looks like a worthwhile upgrade for anyone running a 2WD Slash, Rustler, Bandit, or Stampede with a more powerful motor and wants more durability in the drivetrain.
