Easy install. Just make sure gasket surfaces are clean, slap it on there & fill with stinky oil…I was surprised at the quality and thickness of the cover. You will not be disappointed. Not cheap in any way…it looks amazing too!

I installed this in a 2006 GMC 2500HD Duramax. The fit and finish are excellent and installation is really easy. The day after installation I had what I thought was a leak. I contacted Mag-Hytec via phone and they were able to diagnose it in just a couple minutes. The installation instructions recommend you put some gear oil on the o-ring before bolting it up and that oil (maybe I over did it!!!) was causing a very slight drip at the bottom of the cover. I wiped it off and there hasn't been any drip since. BTW - Mag-Hytec instantly offered to replace the o-ring if the drip didn't stop. Very good customer service.

This cover greatly increases rear diff oil volume. It has a perfectly flat mating surface with a recessed track for the seal. It will definitely make future fluid changes very easy. Used on a 2002 GMC 2500 HD with a full float 14 Bolt 11.5” Ring. Even with only using 13 bolts to seal it has no issues. Visually it is an eye turner, didn’t tell anyone I was replacing my old stock cover, and everyone noticed the replacement.

This is a very nice well made cover, looks great and doesn't leak like my old cover. Also it clears my spare tire on my 2003 GMC Sierra 250HD, and the factory line brackets didn't need modification...they bolted right on in the original same places.

I installed this on my 2007 gmc duramax crew cab. The install was pretty straight forward. The cover eliminates a couple bolts. The top center bolt holds a bracket that holds the emergency brake cable for the right rear tire. I had to bend the bracket to a 90 degrees over and then slide the bracket over a little. But not that big of a deal. The stock bolts came out easy. It took about 15 min and a metal scrape to remove the old gasket to a smooth surface. With a light layer of oil on the new o ring the cover seated and lined up nicely. The specs called for 12 to 16 for pounds of torque on the Allen bolts. So a torque wrench and the correct Allen size socket is in order. You don't want to over tighten. Because it will crush the O ring. On the duramax it raised the oil capacity to 8 quarts total. What I didn't get is there is a hole in the middle of the cover for oil to come out of , it takes 7 quarts to get to that point. But then you add an additional 3 quarts to get to the upper line on the dip stick so the oil hole is pointless.

I purchased this cover for my 2007 NBS Silverado 2500HD to help increase fluid capacity as well as aid in keeping the axle cool. Having used a similar Mag-Hytec diffy lid on my '89 Dodge W-250 Cummins for many years with success, this was the go-to upgrade for the Chevy. The cover installs easily, and even comes with the Allen wrenches needed for installation and regular maintenance. The revised level check plug and included dipstick indications increase the fluid level in the axle enough to ensure an adequate supply of oil to the wheel bearings over stock levels, and the magnet-tipped dipstick make fluid inspection a no-mess affair. The drain plug also includes a magnet to keep metal particles out of suspension in the oil, helping with component longevity. I measured axle temperatures of about 170 deg. F during hot weather towing with this in place, where the original temps were 185-190 deg. in the same application. It's also a nice cosmetic upgrade as well.Installation note: I had to fab up a new mounting bracket for the right-side parking brake cable as the original mounting clip would no longer fit with the Hytec cover installed, and I had to slightly modify the hydraulic line block mounting bracket to fit, as well as slightly reroute the metal brake lines. Other than these issues, this is a simple upgrade. Different applications might not need these additional actions, or might require different steps to complete the installation properly. Never let any brake components remain unfastened or allow them to rub or hit moving parts such as the axle housing.
