I use B through D strings on my bass instead of E through G and needed a greater compensation angle at the bridge than it originally came with, for which the standard thin and straight saddles required a most likely esthetically unpleasing refill and drill of the bridge.Since this is a wider pre-compensated piece meant to be installed perpendicular to the strings it allowed just widening the original angled bridge slot while also giving the extra length for the B string.Soundwise, it's a bit dry and "plastic" as every under saddle pickup on it's own, but great with proper eq and/or acoustic modeling gear.

I have an inexpensive "Grand" acoustic-electric bass guitar I bought some years ago, probably on Ebay. The bridge popped off and tore off the leads to the pickup. I couldn't see any easy way to reconnect the wires, but I happened across this virtually identical new one on Amazon. It fits perfectly and just plugs in to the on-board pre-amp. It was way easier than trying to fix the old one and I was afraid I would have to just pitch the whole instrument because it wouldn't be worth having it repaired. I consider myself very lucky on this one. I never really hoped I'd find a replacement so easily and cheaply. It suits my minimal needs perfectly, so I don't have an opinion about its quality as compared to other possible solutions.

Bought as a direct replacement for an acoustic bass that came in for repair with the complaint of no output. Tested the pickup...no output at all. Preamp worked fine. Checked this replacement when unpacked...stone dead. Removed the saddle from the old one and looky here...copper contact strips for piezo chips but no piezo chips. I suspect the same for this one. Fake...

The pickup sounds good, with good balance for each string. The pickup and saddle are a single piece. Easy to connect electronically but had to rout the bridge slot to make it longer and wider. Also had to add a shim to add height. Did not "drop in" to my Samick bass as previous reviewer had indicated.

This is the position that it needs to go into the saddle. The picture shown with the string letters is taking from the back of the bass guitar. Notice the height difference.

Works pretty good. Sounds good too. Must run it through a pre-amp. Luckily it fit in the bridge slot.

Volume on the G string is a bit low but otherwise good balance and decent sound. Huge improvement over the OEM part.
