This is a well made drivers back support modeled after the CVO backrest for HD touring bikes.Note - Your cycle needs to have the rear fender stud plate ( HD part number 59174-99 ) in order to use this backrest. The required stud plate can be added to any of the bikes listed in the seller description. This backrest does not include the plate or instructions of any kind. I'll be including a few images and tips to assist installing. On to the review -The backrest itself is well made. Its faux leather cover is of adequate thickness and has good stitch work without sag. The steel support has clean welds and gloss black powdercoating. The mount for the backrest is a twin to the one Harley uses. I have pictured them side by side and could find nothing to complain about here.Installing this backrest isn't difficult, but without paper instruction or pictorial, it can leave some steps in the gray. Overlapping the three-piece mount as shown eliminates torque on the fender stud plate. See my pictures for the orientation.IMPORTANT! - If your bike did not come with a stud plate already installed, you DO NOT have to remove your rear wheel to add the fender stud plate. Follow these steps to place a stud plate in the rear fender without unnecessary labor...Place the bike on its kick (jiffy) stand.Remove the seat.Remove the right side hard saddle bag.Remove the right painted side panel. *Pull gently from the corner rubber grommets, by hand.Position the fender stud plate in the gap made visible between the frame and lower lip of the rear fender at the top of the rear tire. I have large hands, (XL gloves) and my hand fits in this space. If you have giant hands, you may need to place the bike on a center stand to relax the suspension to gain an inch or so - but that's unlikely.Carefully move the stud plate under the fender until its threaded studs protrude through the factory holes in the rear fender. Secure this plate with the OEM factory white plastic fender washers that come with the fender stud plate. Now you can complete the install of the backrest mounting bracket that comes with this backrest. I'd suggest leaving all fasteners loose until you've the bracket positioned on your motorcycle. With the seat off, remove (2) factory bolts that secure the top of the battery hold down plate and lift to one side. This plate does not need to be disconnected from the ECU to install the backrest bracket.Using the gap exposed by lifting the battery hold down plate, and 7/16 open end wrench, (or 11mm), install the front bottom tab of the forward mounting block bar to the frame with (2) bolts, washers and nuts included with the backrest. (pics)Align the backrest-mounting block over the rear fender stud plate studs and loosely secure with (2) nuts that thread onto the rear fender stud plate. Side note - I used the 3rd set of holes from the top edge of the mounting block, based on my 6'1" frame and 34" trouser inseam.Snug all hardware to prevent the mount from moving, and temporarily replace the seat. You can now insert the backrest through the seat opening and sit on the motorcycle in order to test the location of your backrest in relationship to your preferred seating position. If all is good, simply remove the seat and torque the mounting hardware to secure the backrest mounting bracket. If adjustments are necessary, simply loosen the hardware after removing both two nuts from the rear fender stud plate and reposition the backrest mounting bracket. Repeat this procedure until you've reached the best location for your backrest. Remember to secure all hardware that attaches your backrest mounting plate to the frame before riding your motorcycle. In summary, the backrest is well fabricated and provides a firm back support for the driver. One star was withheld for the lack of documentation with the product. I personally feel including basic assembly literature for the DIY customer should always accompany these types of accessories.

This fit perfectly and looks great. The lower back support really helps on long rides, especially the older I get. I have matured past the point of it not "looking cool" or "looking old manish" and accept comfort where I can get it. I installed this on a 2013 Ultra Classic and it was super easy even with all my added wires and control modules under the seat. I like that I can remove it and throw it in a saddle bag or the trunk when we are just jetting around town and then install it for the longer haul rides or if my back is achy already. Don't let anyone shame you into riding in discomfort, riding is all about YOUR journey and what YOU like on your ride.
