Battery condition is extremely important. No voltage regulator can work correctly with a bad or weak battery. Always fully charge your battery before performing any charging system tests or replacing parts. If there is any doubt, have the battery load tested or replaced.
Please note: there are four possible regulators for some Yamaha models. Make sure to compare our item to your original part, referring to our photos and OEM.

Still working after 2/12 seasons. Almost plug and play, but internal circuit is different than factory (Yamaha SRX, XT or TT 600 motorcycle), so had to ground the case to the frame (straight to battery negative was easiest for my application) to make it work.

The OEM voltage regulator died on my 93 fzr600 and I bought this one because of the increased heat sinks. Installed on the bike and instead of helping it actually decreased performance. The bike wouldn't even hold a charge, causing the motor to flutter while idling. Save yourself the hassle, spend the money and buy and OEM VR from your local Yamaha dealer like I ended up having to do.
