The new matte black rugged ridge boulder aluminum differential covers are constructed from a356-t6 cast aluminum for strong impact resistance and feature a precision machined sealing surface, allowing gaskets or RTV sealant to be used for a leak-free seal. Each cover is designed to help protect internal components from damage caused by contact with rocks and other terrain off-road as well as aid in dissipating heat from differentials. These covers also come complete with a magnetic drain plug for protection against costly damage from metal particles that can accumulate in gear oil and include a specially designed dipstick bolt to help jeep owners avoid under or overfilling their differentials.

Installed on 2016 jeep JK 75th edition with 4" lift. So far so good. Too early to tell on durability but if anything happens I'll update my review. I do some moderate offroading. I have a 4" suspension lift, no fitment issues. I bought matching covers for both diffs. Dana 30/44

As stated previously by multiple other reviewers...And intentionally fake magnetic drain plug...Cover is good but disappointing to have to drive into a parts store to get a part that they advertise comes with it...It is a 1/2" x 20 magnetic drain plug by the way

Not even close to the correct size for a 2000 Jeep WJ rear Dana 44. I discovered after a trip to a local 4 wheel drive shop that I have the aluminum rear axle housing (Dana 44a) and it requires a different cover. Product seemed nice but now my Jeep is torn apart with no way to reassemble because I damaged the cover even more than it was before I started. The cover had the correct shape and I didn't think I needed to check for fitment.... learn from my mistake and take a magnet to your differential housing. I can't give this a positive review because they said it would fit.

Fits perfectly and looks great on my Wrangler rear Dana 44, now I need one for the front. Gives about 2 quarts capacity and the "dipstick" feature makes filling a breeze. I recommend using an actual gasket and not the RTV that Jeep recommends, for a true monolithic bullet proof seal. RTV is flexible (inexpensive) and lets things move around, in my experience a good quality gasket, torqued to spec on clean dry surfaces is far more solid and reliable.

LOVE THIS. I PAINTED CENTER SQUARE AREA RED AND MOUNTED WITH STAINLESS STEEL BOLTS. LOOKS GREAT. BOUGHT FOR FRONT AND REAR DIFFS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT FOR CUSTOM LOOK.

So this product was listed as having a magnetic drain plug. That is plainly untrue. Also I was annoyed that the drain plug, and the fill plug are different sizes so you have to have 2 different tools to work on this. Not a huge deal, but annoying. The parts itself appears nicely made, and the finish is nice.

I was looking for an inexpensive diff cover that had a dipstick and a drain plug positioned at the bottom of the cover (some have the drain plug sitting up to an inch from the bottom, making it difficult to drain all the old fluid). My fill plug on the OEM cover was seized and I hate the process of cracking the seal at the bottom and ending up with gear oil running down the my arm. To this end, the Rugged Ridge cover performed the tasks I needed. The only problem I had was with the location of the fill plug. If you install this on the rear of an LJ or TJ, there is very little space between the diff cover and the fuel tank. I found myself contorted in all sorts of weird shapes, just trying to insert the pump hose into the small opening located at the very top of the cover, so that I could fill it with fresh gear oil.Installation included the use of a Lube Locker gasket instead of using RTV...... worked great with no wait for the sealant to cure! My only disappointment with the construction of this product was with the drain plug itself...... I was really hoping for a magnetic drain plug, which makes it easier to determine if there are any problems inside.
