I got this to replace the OEM diff cover for my CJ7's AMC 20 rear axle. I knew it was cast iron, but I was pleasantly surprised when I received the cover. It's nearly 1/4" thick! Installation was pretty straightforward. I used a LubeLocker gasket; sealed up nicely. The only thing is, it's HEAVY, so you might want to find a way to support it while you get the first 2 or 3 bolts in. Just run 'em down until they're snug. Wait to torque them until all the bolts are in. Then torque them to spec in a "star" pattern. Once you're finished, enjoy your new, STOUT differential cover. Oh yeah, one last thing ... it has a drain plug! No more replacing gaskets unless you open up the diff.

Great overall quality and perfect fit. No leaks. Even with the stock 20 gallon CJ fuel tank and 1" of lift, there was no interference. Glad to have the drain plug.

I was afraid the glossy painted texture inside would cause it to leak so I used gasket maker with a new cork seal and it has been great. Very solid upgrade.

The casting had an area roughly two inches on the right side where the casting was imperfect. This did not affect the sealing surface, but one of the bolt holes interfered with the proper fit of one bolt. A small piece of cast material had to be removed for everything to fit properly. You get what you pay for, and this is a Chinese made item. Also, the casting is fairly rough all over. The paint used is fairly heavy duty. It is painted inside as well as outside. Comes with the required twelve hex flange bolts with a black coating.

Had to replace the factory cover after a piece of scrap steel put a 2" gash in it. This thing is awesome! It weighs as much as my ring gear and fits like a glove. With a NAPA gasket & stainless steel bolts, it has not leaked, and I think would withstand a direct hit from a 9mm pistol! My Jeep (1980 CJ7) loves it!

I have had this on my AMC 20 for over a year. I was not impressed with the hardware so I bought button heads for the bottom and hex heads for the upper bolts. Used gasket seal Ultra Black along with a quality cork gasket.I used spray adhesive to hold the cork gasket in place while securing the cover...it is heavy and the gasket may move. Overall I would recomment it.

This cover is the only option I have been able to find to protect the AMC Model 20 differential. The same item is sold by several vendors with their name on it. The factory diff. cover is scary thin so I was lucky that it survived several tough trail trips including the Rubicon. The fit and finish is very good, it doesn't leak and seems thick and heavy enough to survive all but the hardest hits. It's been on my Jeep for over two years now. I recommend it.
