I bought the non-formed filter that you cut yourself and used this for my portable AC unit air intake. This works exactly as I was hoping it to and doesn't seem to restrict airflow much at all.It was easy to cut and install. Definitely worth the buy.

I got this air filter for the GE air conditioning unit in my motorhome. It is made with better and durable material than the original filter that came with the unit. I like that we can cut the material as it allows you to make the perfect fit. Although this filter is thicker than the original one, it can be compressed easily and allows my vent cover to close flush. I have just installed it a few days ago so did not yet need to clean it but it certainly looks like it will be possible to vacuum the surface and wash the filter since the material appears to be durable. So far so good!

My girlfriend’s house has a non-standard slot in return air vent for a filter. We couldn’t find a traditional paper filter anywhere, so we thought we’d try this to cut to shape. It works great for this purpose except it isn’t stiff enough to span the gap itself. We had to put a piece of wood across the back of it so it wouldn’t fall into the vent. Still, using it in this way, off label, is still much better than no filter. It is catching all sorts of pet hair well.

This is an excellent replacement for just about any air filter set-up.It was very simple to cut the filter to the exact size needed.Since the filter can be washed, it will no longer be necessary to use valuable storage space for spare filters. This fiber filter appears to be very tough construction and material. I would anticipate that it will last through multiple cleaning cycles. It is a little more expensive than other filters, but repeat use will make it cheaper in the long run. I believe this is good value for money.I would recommend this filter to my friends and family.

This is like three times thicker than the filter foam that came with my RV. Therefore it makes it impossible to gracefully close the grill on the A/C intake even when it's trimmed to the right size. Since that's why I got it, and that's what it is marketed for, unfortunately that's 2 stars from me, dawg!I did use it to cover some fan intakes on some other equipment, as well as in my recirculating chicken waterer to filter out some gunk. It seems to be what you expect, just... thicker.

Nothing to take any stars away for. It's filter material, comes in a roll and easily cut.I can't ascertain the efficacy of the material. It reminds me of a thinner version of the material for residential swamp coolers. It's not the same material--it just reminds me of that.Description said it can be washed and the material looks to be able to be washed without damage. If it's the right price and the size is good, get it. Looks good to me.

When I found this item, my first thought was "how old is my original issue AC filter, still in use?". Easy answer, it's now seven (7) years old, same age as the RV. Likely high time to replace it. From the pictures and description, this looked to be a very much superior upgrade.Just holding them together, this filter is about four times thicker than the original. Holding them up to light, the original is almost transparent; you can see through the replacement, but you can't see much. The new one is MERV rated; I'd wager real money, as much as a quarter, that my original filter is not rated at all.Cutting the replacement filter to size was simplicity itself. Just lay the old tattered filter on the replacement, and gently cut it with sharp scissors. Since this item is larger than the original filter, I no longer have any excuse for not replacing it two or three times. The old filter had a comparatively large square hole cut for the filter tray fastener; I chose to cut a small X instead, which makes the filter fit much tighter around the fastener. No bypass for air flow that way. For all that the replacement filter is thicker than the original, it fits nicely into the filter tray, and fastens without any evidence of compression when closed.I had some concerns with how the thicker filter would affect air flow. It's currently in the low 40's here, so I couldn't get the AC to turn on, but turning on the fan worked just fine. I tried my inexpensive wind gauge to measure the vent air flow; It was too coarse an instrument to measure a difference between filters, which is encouraging. The old Mark 1 "hold your hand in the wind stream" also didn't indicate much, if any, difference in air flow, even in the rear of the RV (longest stretch of conduit) on any fan setting.Since our little bus is currently in winter storage, it's likely to be a while until I get a chance to try it out in the field, but I'm confident that we will experience a much better air quality in our RV when using the AC, which here in the south is most of the camping season.

If you are new to RVing or just not sure what size AC filter you need, this is a great option. The packaging is a basic plastic bag, but the filter roll was not damaged, even though it arrived with another item in the same box. The size of the filter is pretty big, so you should be able to get a couple replacements out of 1 sheet. In my photo I put a pair of scissors on the laid out filter so you can see how large it is. I also added in a side view so you can see how deep it is. I cannot wait to measure, cut and replace our current filter.
