Pulley bearing was slightly larger than bearing shaft. Smoked excessively anfet running for a couple of minutes and created lots of heat (260+ degrees at the pulley) from friction rubbing on electromagnet. Remove belt and found that due to the loose fit of the pulley bearing on the shaft, the serpentine belt had pulled the pulley into contact with the electromagnet. Was able to fix the issue by inserting a .010 inch feeler gauge between the shaft and the bearing. Hopefully no one else runs into this issue. MacGyver

Big thank you to the reviewer that left a detailed overview of the issues he was seeing, the tools he used to do the replacement along with the instructions to replace it. I had similar issues, relays and electrical all looked good but compressor would only intermittently turn on (but when it did, it worked flawlessly with no odd noises). These parts are brand new and good quality and easily saved $$$.I would add that as another reviewer mentioned, removing the radiator fan is a simple process (2 10mm bolts/temporarily removing the top radiator hose and expansion hose) and gives you a lot more space to work with. Additionally, you can take a small pry bar to the back of the pulley and it should pop right off (instead of using a puller). You will still need the modified 3 jaw puller for the clutch plate. A lighted inspection mirror is also a lifesaver for being able to see the snap rings holes.

Modified the three jaw puller from Harbor Freight to remove the clutch. Thanks to the reviewer that provided the guidance on how to remove the clutch plate and all the other points made. You will need a mirror on a flex line to see the clips on the pulley and coil.Removed the torx screw. Pulled the clutch plate with the modified three jaw puller. Removed the clip from the pulley and pried it off. Couldn't remove the clip on the coil. I didn't have enough room / enough strength to get it off in the cramped space.Removed the top radiator hose and hose to expansion tank. You should drain out about a 1/2 gallon of antifreeze first and then remove the top radiator hoses. The fan will shimy out if you take your time. Took two or three tries and was able to pull the coil clip off. Installed new coil, clip, pulley, clip, clutch plate and 8 mm bolt. Put all the bits and pieces back and tested out the new clutch. Worked perfectly!

Replaced clutch couple months back on wife's Canyon. At 100k miles her original was looking rough and when I did remove it, the bearing was tight. This is not an easy job due to the location but it is possible to change while bolted up and without disturbing your refrigeration charge. This is the new clutch, the company also list and sells a reman'd unit.

I’m writing all this to hopefully save another DIYer or shop some serious coin and time. TLDR; this clutch kit was the fix for our problem. High quality and very complete kit.Our AC went out last fall in our 2015 Colorado. We were told the whole compressor needed to be replaced by a local reputable repair shop as well as the dealership. Quotes for the repair range between 1200 and 2200. Also, both said they can’t replace the just clutch and that it isn’t even available. *eyeroll*I wasn’t down with just accepting that bill. And I knew that the symptoms before it went out weren’t consistent with a bad compressor. -It was still intermittently working. When it did it work, it worked flawless and didn’t make noise like a failing compressor often will.I got to work troubleshooting the issue with YT and forums. It didn’t have a leak, still had pressure, fuses and relay tested good, no codes etc… Main symptoms were no cold air and the clutch plate wasn’t engaging. When I went to test the lead that energizes the coil it had 12v when ac was turned on. Next I unplugged the coil and made a two wire lead to test the coil with a separate 12v battery and nothing happened. To be sure I measured the coil leads for continuity with a multimeter and it showed it was an open circuit. This means it’s definitely a bad coil. Now to figure out what coil I needed and how to get it off and replaced. That research also led me to this coil and pulley combo by R & Y.I had to buy a 3 jaw puller and modify it (see pictures) in order to fit the puller’s tabs on the front of the clutch plate’s 3 “loops”. Examine the pics to see how I did it. A cut off wheel and a file worked very well. The hardest part was getting the c clip off that held the coil itself on. I probably spent an hour trying to get the tips to line up with the holes on the c clip. However once I got them in it came right out… YMMV and I probably should’ve $$ upped for the nicer set of snap ring pliers. Entire job itself took under 2 hours and cost well under $200. If I had to do it again could probably do it in less than an hour.Remove beltRemove t30 or bolt on front of plateRemove clutch plate with modified 3 jaw pullerRemove first c clipRemove pulley with larger 2 or 3 jaw pullerUnplug coilRemove c clip holding coil onInstall is reverse order. Hopefully you have ac now and you’re celebrating with a cold snack.Tools I used•T30 torx 3/8 socket for factory plate stud•Modified HF 3 jaw puller for clutch plate•Cheapo HF int/ext snap ring pullers•HF 2 jaw puller for pulley•Small rubber mallet to reinstall pulleyBest of luck, No guarantees as Im not a professional. Just a cheap bozo with tools.

Really liked the hex bolt instead of the torx screw from the factory. Fit my 2016 2.8 Diesel AC compressor. Wires were a little longer other than that it was a perfect fit. Maybe include the set up instructions for the shims. Had to search for the clearance specs. Great product, very impressed.
