You SHOULD NOT have to take a brand new flywheel to the machine shop to check the balance. After reading several reviews that stated that they came out of balance I made sure to get it checked prior to install as I was already fighting a mystery shudder on takeoff. I’m glad I did because the shop said it was 3.7 ounces out of spec….. that’s horrible quality control. Now I’ve spent more on a new flywheel than I would have just resurfacing my old one.GET IT CHECKED

Installed this flywheel with a brand new high quality clutch kit and what I got was a whole bunch of shuttering now. It’s been a solid 300 miles with this now and shutters like nothing else. We ended up taking everything apart a day after installation and everything was torqued to spec no problem with the installation. Super frustrating I am going to contact the company to see if this is just a remanufactured part that was never balanced. Please save yourself the time

UPDATE- 11-7-20. The vibration seemed to get worse. I finally had time to take it back apart. I started it up with only the flywheel attached. Still vibrating. Picked up a new flywheel from AZ. Installed it with the original clutch pack and it was perfectly smooth. The vibration also caused the rear main seal to leak which was brand new when originally installed. Dropping review to 1 star. Now I have a $75 boat anchor, great. Learn from my mistake kids, but quality parts the first time.9-22-20 Replaced the flywheel in my 1997 Subaru Impreza 2.2. now there is a slight vibration at about 800-1200 rpm, I suspect it is the flywheel but not going to tear it apart again to check. I would have returned it and gotten the original machined if I had the time for it. But this did get me back on the road.

the flywheel is a perfect fit to the crank and the clutch fits perfectly but the only problem seems to be is that the starter Bendix gear grinds half of the time when trying to engage on the teeth of the flywheel and won't start the car! the good thing is now that I've been driving it for a few months it has slowly gotten better.

2000 Subaru Outback Legacy. Worked great. machine work looks great, and the performance is better than stock. Highly recommend. Great part at a price much less than local parts stores. Not sure why or how, but Amazon is becoming my go-to for automotive parts.

I just installed a new clutch kit LUk and I used this flywheel on a 2002 subaru impreza TS, 2.5l engine.. Everything fits as it should, no issues. It just that now every time when I start the engine, the starter remain a fraction of a second engaged after the engine starts. It might need a little bit of break in period, maybe the teeth were not properly chamfered, but so far this is the only minor complain I have. I am not sure it is the flywheel, it might be the starter gear being worn out, that's why I am giving 5 stars. It is made in CHINA, and is written in big letter on one side, but it works beautiful with the new clutch, and as somebody else mentioned here, the new clutch is butter smooth. maybe SACHS and LUK are buying clutches from the same company. It is made from cast iron, as per manufacturer specification, it is not very light, and for normal drive it should not be as the main role of the flywheel is to compensate for engine torsional vibrations. As for now, I would recommend this flywheel, especially for normal driving and a regular engine and transmission.

Sachs is a great quality brand at such a great price! Its only a few bucks more to buy a new one than it is to have my old one turned at the local machinist. Might as well buy new to go with my new clutch kit! Bought this for my 97 Subaru Legacy GT ej25. Fit great, there's drilled out sections that indicates balancing. Spins up great with little/no vibration and engages well with my clutch.

Excellent quality and price. The flywheel is 4 pound lighter and I noticed the benefits of less weight whith in the first acceleration. I'm very happy with this purchase.
