I’ve been buying these for years for my job as a land surveyor. They used to be indestructible. One was literally run over and it just bent and didn’t fall apart. The latest one is cheaply made without reinforcing pins. The spring will bend after a while and not pinch the paper.

I actually have a older one of these and this is nothing close to the quality. the major thing you notice is the ribs are not there. these actually give it strength to prevent from bending when trying to open the clip all the way. not to mention the aluminum is thin enough it bends and leaves a warp.Debating on sending it back because is the quality worth the price.no way to contact seller or report the item for false info.

It's Great wish it was a little cheaper and had a pocket inside of the front cover for a template or ruler.

Slick and light. The built in paper clamp is a bit rigid to open and close. Perhaps gets easier with use?

Good clipboard for specific tasks. One issue, as noted elsewhere is the extremely tight clip. If you put an engineering pad in yours (like I do), and try to put something else in it, on top (like a 20 page brief), well, its difficult to do that. You have to "bend" it toward the part closest to the hinge, so as to not bend the entire front plate which is not very thick aluminum sheeting. I suspect if I did try to bend it by holding the far edge, it would bend the plate badly. Stiff is good, don't get me wrong. It will last a while I suspect. It's just something you need to be aware of. If you have any mechanical sense you will recognize the limits of the open/close function. I have an older one, that I bought this one to replace, that was held closed by two springs. They have loosened over the years, and do not snugly hold small amounts of paper anymore. This one, however, since it uses a rigid but flexible metal tube as the "spring", will hold its stiffness for years I think, unless I expand it beyond the elastic into its plastic regime. Not going to happen. One point: The edges are not sanded completely smooth. This is why I took one star away. In my small backpack, when I stuff this in, there is going to be some wearing and possible tearing. Its not sharp, but its not smooth either.

This clipboard will likely outlast me. Would have liked a thicker metal on the back panel to make the clipboard more comfortable to hold in my hands with the cover open.

This would be a pretty good product IF the springback hinge wasn't so tight. Unfortunately it is ridiculously tight. In order to get any volume of paper into it, you have to pull back on this so hard that it almost breaks open. Snapping it back is almost as much of a chore. I have a hard time believing that it's designed this way given how difficult it is to get papers into the holder, but apparently that's how it is. NOT RECOMMENDED, unless you have wrists like a powerlifter.
