I bought one for myself and one for a white elephant gift. A real hit. Great for sushi, but also great for shrimp and cocktail sauce. I would strongly recommend storing it in the original packaging. I threw out my storage box and have to be extra careful with storage. The dish is made of somewhat frail ceramic. The tail could be a problem for storage. It’s worth the extra effort.

Even though I knew these would be good sized, I decided to order two of these plates so my husband and I could each use our own. I love them! Are they perfect? No. But they are awesome. The main imperfections are that the painting isn't the greatest (very obvious paint lines, especially for the water) and one plate is actually slightly shorter than the other (which was unexpected but not a huge deal), and one plate is a bit lighter colored, but the sharks look great, the colors are bright overall, and the plates feel sturdy and are adorable. And wow, these were packed in some of the thickest styrofoam I've ever seen, which definitely helped them arrive safely. I added a picture of my (admittedly small) hand to give a better idea for size, as well as with some chopsticks. I showed the chopsticks in different orientations because normally the side that picks up food is raised up, but with the tail so high I think it actually looks better for them to point down. Not that you need to use the tail for chopsticks at all, but it is a really nice option. So in conclusion, these are really fun plates and I can't wait to use them!UPDATE: Finally used the plates and they were perfect! We decided to use a container in the mouth for the sauce to make cleanup easier, but both plates I purchased had mouths that didn't leak (tested with water when I cleaned them before use), so I am very happy! Please excuse the ugly looking maki/sushi rolls and squares, it was my first time ever making my own. But they were yummy! (I actually used cauliflower rice instead of regular rice to be healthier, I found a recipe to do that using agar agar online called "Sticky Cauliflower Rice for Sushi" from the website Foodaciously in case anyone else is interested in trying that too). I haven't tried these in a dishwasher yet, but hand-cleaning these plates isn't too bad (especially if you use a container in the mouth like we did), and I gently placed them leaning a bit sideways facing down in a drying rack to air dry. Storage is a bit awkward since these are large and don't stack like regular plates, but I found that if I wrap the tails with bubble wrap I can gently place the tails in the mouth of the other shark plate to store them more compact while on their sides (to help keep pressure weight lower so nothing breaks).

The quality of the plates is very good, with a good texture and realistic cartoon patterns. The baby at home likes them very much and they are particularly beautiful
