It's a crank set for a bicycle, when you take it out of the original packaging, It gets damaged. Please stop doing this

I did a rebuild on a 22 year old mountain bike with an STX RC crank set. and high end components that were not all available new or old stock. Most parts have been sourced at least compatible. This works but will be upgraded Fine for a Altus level replacement.

I had damaged the threads on my old crankset trying to remove them to change my bb. I was going to try and get away with my threadless crankset knowing I would have to remove it by hitting with with a rubber mallet again, but when I went to put my old one back on I had damaged the insides of the crank and it would no longer mount properly on the taper causing all the chainrings to wobble the in same direction due to the offset. I ordered these and a new bb and I freaking love them! they feel solid and are a bit longer than my old ones which I like a lot. These are a great price for those wanting to replace stock parts or looking to replace a damaged crankset. Just make sure they fit your current bb or you'll need to order another one (73x122.5 is the one I ordered for this, I think as long as its 122.5 you're okay)

I love the smaller climbing gear on this crankset! Went on easily (once I got the old one off). Fits a square spindle type bearing spindle.I suggest using the nut from the old spindle to tighten the new crank-arm onto the spindle. Then remove the nut and attach the lighter weight allen screws which come with this spindle. (I would be nervous about putting 40 ft lbs on the allen wrench; easier with a normal ratchet). This crankset is not much lighter than my old crankset. If you want to save weight, you need to look elsewhere. However, the gears on this crankset are removable. This crank is definitely an upgrade for most low to mid price mt. bikes!

Great quality and this works wonderfully and looks awesome also. I have it on an 18 year old Kona AA mtb. The price to quality ratio on this is huge. I would not hesitate to purchase this at all.

Very nice crankset ( only, no bottom bracket [BB]). Purchased the 175mm, 42/32/22T w/out chainguard model, for a 29er hardtail mountain bike. 175mm is the cranks length, it fits square shaped ends BBs. Look up "bottom bracket" with square ends on this site if your not sure what it looks like. My existing BB is in good shape, didn't need to replace it, most BBs will have their lenght stamped, mine happened to be 122.5 mm, so it was a perfect fit. The 42/32/22 stands for the number of chainring teeth. This size happens to be the most common ring size for a mountain bike. You will need a crank removal tool, it is worth the $4-9 bucks. The crankset has aluminum cranks and metal rings, appears very durable, it is light compared to the steel cranks it replaced. I picked the 175mm over the 170mm, the bike has plenty of ground clearance being a 29er, however be mindful of clearance height. The longer cranks feel so much better to me. For best results, use a torque wrench for installing the crank bolts, I used locktite to prevent the bolts from backing out, so far no problems. Do not overtighten the bolts or you may strip the threads. If you are not familiar with torque values, take it to a bike shop or trusty mechanic, it will be worth it. The same goes for pedal installation, the cranks are aluminum and the threads are easily stripped, remember the left pedal has reverse threads. Great product.
