I installed this in my 175 HP blackmax mercury outboard, it is a direct replacement for mercury motors,and costs far less than original parts.Works perfect have had no problems with charging system. Would recommend this for owners of mercury outboards. Be sure to check part number for motor sizes.

A great item that was part of a complete redo of my 1986 Mercury Outboard. It now runs just like new, as strong and powerful as ever for a fraction of the cost! Through Amazon I was able to replace all my electrical ignition parts for what it costed to have a dealer replace on part. Now runs better than it has in years, has more than enough charge and spark, and gets better fuel economy!

While preping my boat for the season opening, I accidently crossed the battery connection for just an instant (sparked real quick). When I started the motor, I noticed the tach wasn't reading right. After scratching my head for a couple of days, I ran across a post that said the rectifer was most likely fried. Replaced it with this Teleflex and the tach worked again. This is a perfect replacement for the OEM rectifer at a much lower price. From what I gathered, Teleflex is a major manufacturer.
