This is a perfect case for a large pattern snare drum. For me it's in use with a Pearl 15" by 3" Free Floater early model gen 1 snare drum. So it has a huge strainer on both sides of the drum. Works great! No foam inside so I don't have to worry about that stuff turning to goo. It's lined with a stiff firm cushion that's thin and covered by black fabric, real smooth but not foam-like. Excellent case. It'll last a lifetime.

This case worked of great for my 5.5”@X14” Extended or extra sensitive Ludwig snare. I had to add a piece of 12”X12” acoustic foam tile to keep the drum from wiggling. This case will easily accommodate a 6 1/2 x 14 Snare with extended or super sensitive snare bed.

My Ludwig Super Sensitive features a snare mechanism that is too big for conventional 14" snare cases. I found recommendations for this case on a message board. I was concerned at first because it is described as a case for a 5" depth snare but my 6.5 depth snare fits perfectly. Nice quality case with padded interior! I'm very happy with it.

Perfect for those 14" snares with extended snare mechanisms, such as the Ludwig Supersensitive of snares outfitted with the like of the DW 3 way butt plates and flip strainer devices! Very much recommended and carries the great SKB quality!

I have a vintage 80's Yamaha 14 inch snare. It sound amazing. The snare on it is a balanced snare where both sides of the snare move up and down to contact the drum bottom. Therefore, a standard 14 inch snare case would not work. So the 15 inch square case allows for the extra length the snare mechanism needs and for basically the same price. Although the picture shows a circular case, the description says square. I got the square case. This will also work for the Ludwig super snare which has basically the same snare mechanism.

First, the product photo shown is not correct. I supplied a customer-provided photo of the correct case, which is square instead of the round case shown.If you own a Ludwig Supersensitive snare drum and have been frustrated trying to find a case that will not only protect it, but also fit the drum perfectly, this is the case to get. Sit the snare drum, with extended tensioning mechanisms facing the corners of the case, and the drum will be safe. The foam lining will go a long way towards keeping your settings, which is important given the Supersensitive's notorious reputation for losing adjustment with the slightest jarring.I have used this case for both the pre-1969 and the later, modern Supersensitive snare drums, and both models fit.Strongly recommended and worth every penny.
