Pretty complete kit. Everything you need to get started tuning your own skis (though ( like to use a ski vise and a rotobrush as well). The file too is pretty simple, but gets the job done. The iron works fine for waxing as does the scraper and brushes. I used my own wax rather than the included pack, so I can't say if it's any good, though I'd guess it is fine for normal recreational use. I haven't needed to use the ptex and metal scraper for base repairs, but they look fine. The whole kit costs the same as a tune or two, so why not give it a try, it isn't hard doing a passable job hot waxing skis, and it's much more convenient to do it yourself than to have to mess with a shop. This kit has everything you need to get started.

I have been waxing, edging and filling minor holes with p-tex for a few years now, I was using a small iron previously and was very happy to upgrade to a real ski iron! This kit is amazing, it has everything you need, p-tex for fixing small scratches, files, scrappers, the iron. The only thing its missing is the brushes for after waxing, but I already had those. I love how it comes with a carrying case so everything stays organized. Highly recommend if you wax your own skis.

If you're new to skiing/boarding, this is an excellent kit for getting started with maintaining and tuning up your skis or snowboard at home so you don't have to pay someone else to do it. It's a great selection of products, all of which seem to be decent quality, and if the instructions aren't clear enough for you to understand how to put them to best use, there are plenty of videos online to assist. I'm quite pleased with it so far and will research and replace components as they get used up or wear out.

Good quality, the iron is great and safe compared to using an old clothes iron. Nice carrying case to keep all the supplies. Nice little set

When I was younger I worked in a ski school for 6 years. There we learned to maintain/repair our own skis and would help the rental shop when time permitted with maintaining their stock of equipment. I wanted this upgraded kit from ANCHOM to work on the skis in our family, and to teach my kids how to maintain their own equipment. This is a nice kit that contains everything you need to wax and sharpen your skis, as well as performing minor repairs to the base. There are 3 different temperatures of wax included (blue, red and yellow) but personally I prefer to use universal wax so I haven't tried these. The included edge tuner is capable of tuning side edges from 88 thru to 90 degrees (1 degree increments) and bottom edge tuning at 1 or 0.5 degrees. The iron in this kit is nice and pretty much identical to name brand irons that cost a lot more. It is adjustable from 60 - 180 oC. I set to slightly over 100 oC and it worked as expected with the universal wax (flowed well with no smoke) so temperature appears to be accurate. The upgraded kit includes the brass, nylon and horse hair brushes which are "must haves" to finish the base waxing, so I recommend getting the upgraded kit over the standard kit (the more brushing, the faster you go!). The included manual does a decent job of explaining how to use all the components, but there are some great videos online that I would recommend watching if you have not done this before. It is not difficult, but the manual will make more sense after watching videos. Even minor base repair with the included p-tex candles can be done with this kit (extensive repairs require components not included here), and are easily done after watching how it is done. This is a good DIY ski tune kit that can save you a lot of money if your family skis a lot. Waxing skis can be a bit messy, so I appreciated the included apron in this kit.

I have been doing my ski for some time, but my kit needed a little refresh. I requested the basic kit and received the upgraded one.The kit will bring you most of the things you need, including the instructions, which are good enough to understand the basics, and an apron, which . You will be missing the bench holder to keep your ski while working. If you get the basic kit, you will also need some extra brushes. Final polishing is not essential, but you need to clean the surface to avoid pushing dust and debris into the base. Personally, I use mainly the manual steel brush and a nylon brush on my drill. If you hesitate between the basic or the upgrade, shop for brushes, they cost about the same as the price difference, and you need them. Then you get extra wax, which depends on your involvement. I started with different types of wax, but with 3 kids, I figured out I'm not the kind to wax the 5 pairs of skis before every ski trip according to the weather forecast. In the end, I bought big bars of ski wax used in shops, after this is what they use when you have somebody wax your skis. Thus, I think the upgrade kit is interesting, mainly for the brushes. The kit is good, I'll discuss the edge tuner separately. You get all the files and scrappers you need. The instructions are correct, but may not give you all the subtle details you will need. You will be able to find good videos to understand the steps in more details. The best advice I can give to a beginner is to start with an inexpensive ski, and be careful to not overheat the ski, for that, keep moving and use basic wax which melts more easily. Get the good temperature, too low will require that you spend too much time melting the wax which will get more heat in the base, thus not better in the end. As for the P-Tex, I try to avoid using it and leave that to pros. The edge tuner is OK, but I prefer the adjustable model with a dial as I change the angle for the kids compared to myself, who like more aggressive edges. Setting the angle with this edge tuner is easy, but look to shave a little of plastic every time. The multiple angles give less surface to get a good alignment, which is another reason why I prefer the adjustable one which offer a large flat surface. This makes a good difference in stability when applying pressure. The edge tuner does both the base and the edge. I usually do the base with the file and some small shims and a marker for the position. This involved some math, but there are guides available.
