I'm not sure if many Chromebooks come with the option of a lighted key board, but mine did not. This is the spare for my ThinkPad and was purchased as the much more powerful machine is often a victim of all that they squeeze in it to burn through any applications [I'm not a gamer] I may need. This light was the product of my trying to use the Duet in low light! I purchased a USB A to C adapter and plugged it in. The super flexible stand allows it to light your key board and not blind the user. It will be great for a black out, where one could simply plug it into any spare charger you may have! It will give you much light for as long as the battery will allow.

The lights are very bright. The lamp was pointed in my direction when I first plugged it in and it nearly blinded me lol. I used it for five days on my MacBook Pro just to try it and for its review and I gotta say that it shines so bright I could hardly see the letters on my MacBook. I suggest that one places it up high if they can. I think it will still provide good lighting. Even though I haven't had it long and bought it to use for a different purpose I give it five stars.

I got this for myself as a sort of gag gift to mess around with. I got a 25$ gift card for my birthday and wanted to get some small things for fun to play with. I received this in the mail almost 2 weeks earlier then the expected deliver date which was nice. That being said this product is sort of garbage. The metal and plastic is obviously very cheap and the light is the least bright LED light I have ever seen. I honestly have no idea what use this device would have in real world application. A monitor's brightness outweighs the brightness of this, so the ambient light from the laptop itself would overpower this device. On the bright side, (please excuse the pun) this light is a cool little toy for the price. The bending works excellent, and it does function. While I cant see using this for any real need, it is overall fun to mess around with. It also works in USB wall charges. This means you can use it as a sort of Jerry rigged nightlight if you wanted to, maybe light a small spot in the kitchen or use it to reveal the location of the light switch in the bathroom. If you have kids you could give it to them when you find out it wont illuminate your keyboard and it would be a nice little night light for them.So in ending, if your looking for a fun "toy" for super cheap to satisfy your shopping urges I would highly recommend this. BUT if your wanting a light that will give you keyboard or book illuminating capacity, I would look elsewhere. The light is sufficient however to light a very small notepad, but I doubt anyone out there is looking specifically for a USB powered light so they can take notes on a small notepad next to their laptop.Cheers!

Even though it was inexpensive, I deliberated for quite awhile before purchasing this lamp because there were so many comments about how dim and narrow the beam of light is. So, I was pleasantly surprised once I got it to discover that for the size and price, it is great! Of course it would be outshined by my SUV's highbeams but I suppose it was designed just to give me enough light that I can find the keys on my keyboard: good enough. Construction quality is good, too. It is so sturdy that it droops a little, due to the play where it connects with the USB port. But the neck stays in the shape that you bend it. If you are looking for just enough light to see your keyboard without annoying your neighbor, then this is the lamp for you. However, if you want to paint your kitchen using the light from your laptop, then you will be disappointed with this lamp.

This light worked for about 30 seconds, then died. Tried it in 3 different pc's - nada. Contacted the seller and was refunded the $1.51 but I'm still out the $3 shipping.Even if it did work, I would not recommend this light to anyone. It is so heavy that it will strain your usb port and probably break it. If it doesn't break it, it will enlarge the port where it will not make good contact with other devices put in there later. I can't believe this seller is still selling these. I wasn't going to leave feedback at first, thinking he would pull these off the market, but he's obviously satisfied making a few cents off shipping after refunding folks the item price. Shame...

This light isn't going to light up your room, but when angled sharply so that it shines horizontally across the keyboard, it does what I was hoping it would do.I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and because of the different shifts, someone is always sleeping in my tent, so I wanted a light to help me see my keyboard but that wouldn't be too bright. This little light is flexible enough to come around the side of my screen, but stable enough that once I set it where I want it, I can do my college homework for hours and never have to readjust it.Three stars for brightness because it's only one LED, so if you want a really bright light, this isn't it. Four stars for construction quality because the lense around the LED is plastic... I have not had any problems with this product and I don't forsee any, but I've only owned it for two weeks.Five stars for both portability and flexibility for the above mentioned qualities!Overall, an excellent prodcut. I'm very happy with it!Sgt Pruett

Almost every day I have to work early in the morning on my laptop and have to keep the lights down. Trying to find keys is madness and I get hardly anything done because I am hunting and pecking, in the dark. So, I purchased this little device from Amazon.com for an amazing $1.50. WOW. For that price, or even for 8.00-10.00, this is a nice little light. I am using it as we speak to type this review.I cannot speak for the longevity of the product as I have not had it for very long.PROS- It does provide enough light so that you can easily see all of your keyboard keys- You can bend the light to adjust where the light is shining to get the best angle- It's plug and play and there are no external switches or other mechanical parts to go bad. plug it in and it turns on. Simple as that.CONS- The only real con that I could come up with is that it is just heavy enough that it pulls itself down a little in the USB port that you plug it into and fits a little loosely. However, I don't think this will ever cause a problem.I would recommend this light to anyone who has to work on a laptop in the dark. I can't attest how this would work for a desktop. But, you would have to have the tower close to the keyboard for it to work.
