This was the second replacement for a twice-failed Heat-N-Glo remote control for our Paloma gas stove. Since I already had a remote control installed, this was a simple swap out, nothing more than disconnect the two leads from the old unit (spade connectors that matched the new unit) and swap in the new unit. The controller merely operates as a switch that completes a circuit that enables the ignition of the stove. Thus, you do not even have to be concerned about which wire leads to which terminal on the terminal block. Again, there are only two connections to make, and there is no concern about which which lead from the receiver goes to which lead on the block. It couldn't be more simple. So far as the sending unit goes, it is a handsome unit that mounts on the wall as a thermostat and operates on a 2 degree difference from the set temperature. It is backlit via a luminescent background that makes reading the large (though not clownishly large) display easy to read. The unit can be easily popped out of the wall mount and placed anywhere within range (30+ feet) of the stove. The only concern I have at this point is battery life. With the large display of the sending unit may come a foreshortened battery life. Only time will tell. Should this become problematic I will post an update. But for now, I am utterly pleased with this unit.In short: 1.) Easy to install2.) No complex wiring3.) Bright, easy to read display4.) Attractive when mounted on wall

I bought the "Skytech 5320 Timer/Thermostat Fireplace Remote Control with Backlit Touch Screen" to replace the remote control system for a 20 year old Avalon Prairie gas fireplace. It works great! The original remote had a tiny screen that could be difficult to read. The screen on this remote is 3-1/2" diagonally (1-1/2" wide x 3-3/16" high) and is much easier see, even from a distance. The blue backlight stays on for only five seconds after touching the screen or a button, so that won't unnecessarily drain your batteries. If the remote control batteries die and you don't have replacements handy, the body of the receiver has a three-position switch you can use to operate your fireplace in the meantime. The installation took only a couple of minutes. It involved unplugging the old remote receiver, disconnecting the receiver's two wires, connecting the new remote receiver's two wires, and plugging in the receiver. Put batteries in the new remote. Done!Note: When connecting the new receiver, the two wires can be attached to either connector. You can't go wrong.

Have used this brand before on another insert. It has held up well. This was easy to install and get working. No problems yet.

I had a gas fireplace remote control and receiver that was over 20 years old. The receiver wasn't working lately, so I ordered this one. The remote has a nice LCD screen, with big bright numbers. Hookup was two wires, just plug it in to the connections where the old receiver was hooked up. It's a nice setup, with thermostat control, or simply select on and off. I am pleased!
