My new 20 hp Tohatsu 4 stroke came equipped with a factory 11.5" pitch prop that wouldn't allow the engines RPM's to come up into the recommended (5400-6200) range when my modified 14' Grumman Fisherman was fully loaded with 2 guys, gear etc. I knew I needed to come down to a 10 pitch to get me there. Given The motor was near $4K to purchase, I wasn't going to look to gamble performance to save $20 on a no name prop. I've purchased Solas props in the past and they ALWAYS held up well and delivered top performance.

I prefer these over oem....for several reasons.1 they are a superior quality product.Better casting process...Great finishExcellent performance2 because vs oem i can afford 2...that usually is a 2nd prop that is 1 pitch up or down... nice to be able to swap when the load or situation dictates. For instance when I run the center console out of San Diego I tend to run 1 pitch down...sure I lose top speed...but I gain traction for powering up and over the pacific swell. Also easier to troll smoothly as rims a tad higher while keeping speed the same.3 I always know what to expect from solas products.

Bought this for a 14’ Jonboat with a 2020 Merc 15hp and the new prop fit perfectly and was very easy to install. I was able to pick up 3 extra MPH (factory prop was 24 mph) to 27 mph top speed with a light load. With the boat loaded down of course I lost speed (as I had expected)... would definitely recommend SOLAS props to anyone looking for a new prop, the quality is great.
